What kinds of voter fraud would photo ID stop?
A) When someone claims to be a dead voter.
This is fixed quite easily by another method - remove dead voters from the rolls. Fixing the problem that way prevents anyone from voting for that person even if they have a passable fake ID.
Holder would disagree with you. They tried that in Florida until Holder stopped them. Fortunately, the federal courts said to keep doing the purge. So, you disagree with Holder?
B) Claiming to be someone who has moved
This is fixed by cross coordination between voting districts - if when you register to vote elsewhere the voting authority in your new home informs the voting authority in your old home that you have registered with them, the voting authority at your old place can remove you from the rolls.
How will the new voting district know where you were previously registered? How will they know if you were previously registered at all?
Counties within a state don't coordinate with one another and you expect every county in every state to do so, across state lines? Who's going to pay for that? What makes you think this will work country wide? Not going to happen.
C) Claiming to be someone who is alive and a resident in that precinct-
How often does this happen? Its kinda a stupid thing to do entirely, because if the real voter shows up before you do - you're busted! Are there any cases of this happening?
We can't possibly know if there are any cases of this happening because there's no enforcement...duh! If someone showed up to vote in place of another...then the real guy shows up...how can we possible know who voted fraudulently if no one has their ID? See the problem here?
There are more effective ways to prevent most of the kinda of voter fraud that a photo ID law would prevent.
While you have yet to demonstrate that, even if true, IDs are the easiest, least intrusive way of preventing voter fraud.
Republicans aren't really interested in stopping fraud, though, they are interested in increasing the odds Romney and other righties will win, and that's it.
That would be true if those that do vote fraudulently vote Democrat. So, you're right!
Democrats aren't really interested in stopping fraud though they are interested in increasing the odds Obama and other lefties will win, and that's it. Funny how your words work against your own argument...
