Young Thug trial: Attorney Brian Steel held in contempt, ordered stay in Fulton County Jail

Attorney Brian Steel was held in contempt of court Monday afternoon during the Young Thug, YSL RICO trial in Fulton County.

I've never seen anything like this. The judge meets in chambers with the prosecution and a sworn in witness for two hours and doesn't tell any of the defense lawyers he's doing so...a clear violation...then when the lead defense attorney finds out about it from an unknown whistle blower and calls for a mistrial...the judge demands to know who the whistle blower is or he's going to hold the defense attorney in Criminal Contempt and put him in jail. Dozens of other defense attorneys show up at court to protest what the judge is doing but he won't let them into the courtroom claiming a lack of room. Ashley Merchant is brought in to defend the defense attorney and proceeds to school the judge on contempt law but rather than admitting he was wrong the judge doubles down and sentences the defense attorney to something like 20 weekends in jail.

This is a case that's been going on for over 2 years and it's now probably going to have to be retried. It's the biggest shit show I've ever seen in a court room.

This Lil Thug case is another RICO case brought by Willis that is the longest running and most expensive court case in the history of Georgia, Ex! All that money and it looks as if they just flushed the case with whatever it was the judge and the Prosecution were doing with that witness in chambers. What a collection of idiots!

You are becoming like Ontario more and more each day. I warned you all that this doesn't end well. This is the type of frightening "justice" we have here. Lowest Access to Justice in the entire G20.

Totally against the rules! What's even worse though is that the Chief Judge (who's sitting on the bench for this trial) doesn't appear to know the difference between Criminal Contempt and Civil Contempt and had to have that explained to him. That's embarrassing...for the entire Georgia Court System. This guy is supposedly one of the best judges in Georgia but what he's done over the past two days is going to haunt him. He's totally wrong but he's too stubborn and prideful to admit it.

The judge keeps talking about how the "sanctity" of his chambers have been violated because somebody who was there told defense council about the meeting...which is crazy because it's a meeting that can't take place without defense attorneys present! Obviously this is reversible error so even if Lil Thug is now found guilty by the jury the verdict is going to be tossed. The longest, most expensive trial in Georgia history and it's just been derailed by prosecutors and a judge that are complete idiots.

Oh and if you want to see something hilarious...listen to the testimony of the State's star witness...Lil Woody! (Are all the gang bangers in Georgia nicknamed "Lil"? LOL) Talk about a smart ass on the stand! This guy won't even tell the court how old he is! He literally took the 5th on that question!

That is why judges should not be elected but appointed by the state legislature.

Maybe, just maybe, they won't let someone who is unqualified to sit in judgement of people.
