What is "Unfettered Capitalism"?

Unfettered capitalism is a factory dumping toxic chemicals into a river without fear of legal liability.

Hmmmm, no, that's the kind of crony capitalism that liberals support. Under capitalism property owners can sue anyone who damages their property, meaning anyone who uses the river water can sue the person or company that pollutes it.

Unfettered capitalism is a business operating an unsafe workplace without fear of legal liability.

Again, no, lawsuits are perfectly acceptable and even expected under capitalism.

Unfetter capitalism is a business selling uninspected meat without fear of legal liability.

True, so long as that meat doesn't cause anyone to become ill or die. Under liberal regulation, the company is immune from regulation so long as its products received the government seal of approval. Many people have been made ill by government inspected meat.

"Unfettered" capitalism is just a casual way of saying laissez-faire capitalism. It's funny how laissez-faireists are so terrified to call a rose a rose.

I have no such fear. I have called it that many times.

Pure capitalism does not take into account government's responsibilities making it a theoretical construct that's unworkable in the real world. Pure capitalism is just another Utopian idea which is no more practical than pure socialism.

Pure capitalism depends on government's responsibility to maintain and enforce property law. So it very much takes that 'into account'. But it does reject government's authority to dictate our economic decisions. Is that what you're referring to?
No, I'm referring to our government's responsibility to keep our free markets free of corruption and protection of the health and safety of the public; specifically full disclosure of investor information so it's available to not just to the wealthy and power but all Americans, banking regulations that guarantee the safety of deposits, product regulations particularly health and safety that insure that the food we eat and our medicines are safe, and protection of our most precious resources, the air we breath and water we drink.

The government has no such responsibilities. Check the Constitution. You won't see them mentioned.

You really need to go find a copy of "The U.S. Constitution for Dummies". The only crime defined by the Constitution is treason.
Using your thought process everything else should be legal? Really, that's the way I, and I'm sure everyone else understands your statement. By the way, Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S.C. provides for an Army and Navy, no mention of an Air Force. Does that make having an Air Force unconstitutional.

I would accept unfettered capitalism over what we have today...unfettered government.

How come few condemn unfettered government, when it clearly exists today?...but many condemn unfettered capitalism, which does not exist.

Is it some kind of psychosis or merely brainwashing?

True. But there are some people in this very thread who seem so scared shitless to say it, it's ridiculous. It's like liberals who are afraid to admit that they're liberals.

Where did I mention crime? I responded to a post that claim a vast list of things was the responsibility of the federal government. That's obvious bullshit because all the responsibilities of the federal government are listed in the Constitution. Making sure our medicines are safe isn't one of them.

If I pay $50 for materials and decide to charge $200 for the service I provide with it because it's what I determine it's worth, that's capitalism.

No. That's a free market. Your being uneducated about the matter does not make you magically correct.
There's no such thing as a free market. We move closer or further from it. You being arrogant means nothing to the point. I've been in business for 30 years and will file your opinion where it belongs.

I only provided $50 worth of capital, not $200.

No shit? Lookie der! You can count!

What is your point? Are you misunderstanding things? Gee, imagine that.

Anyway, what makes you the owner of the $150 profit? By what right do you claim that profit? Eh? Why doesn't the profit belong to the workers who performed the labor?

In a capitalist system, the right to those profits stems from the fact that you supplied the capital for the endeavor. Hence the name capitalism. Why is this so difficult for you to understand? Why are you so damned pig headed that you aren't willing to learn something? Why is ignorance so much more appealing to you?
You are getting smega all over your baby bib there, Sport. I own the profit if I collect it. I don't own shit until that happens.
A capitalist deed took place, with or without my ownership. Get it, asshole?

Blah blah blah. Wrong, you stupid fuck. If government took all the profit that is not capitalism by any stretch.

Learn how to quote posts, Einstein.

The Constitution is designed primarily to protect the people of this nation.

Capitalists want government out of their lives except where they need them

Protect patents, enforce unfair competition laws, defend their interests abroad...

Pesky things like labor and environmental laws and they complain about the nanny state

Nope. Don't get it. You're spouting jibberish.

So....you prefer ignorance. You enjoy it?

Wrong, you stupid fuck.

You're the one who doesn't understand the difference between a free market and capitalism, but I'm the stupid one? Your understanding of this entire subject is at a Dr. Seuss level, while I have an understanding that goes in depth, recognizes nuances and the components of larger systems and the relationships of between those components. That makes me stupid?

You avoided this;

"By the way, Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S.C. provides for an Army and Navy, no mention of an Air Force. Does that make having an Air Force unconstitutional?" .
And avoiding that you just carry on blithely (without a thought) and say " all the responsibilities of the federal government are listed in the Constitution." So tell me, who's responsibility is the Air Force? Your answer might help me explain to you why the government has other responsibilities that aren't specifically mentioned in the U.S.C.

Like I said, I've been in business for three decades, obviously you haven't run one for a day, yet you are the expert here.

There is no purely free market so your argument is moot. The further we get away from a free market the further we will get away from capitalism. And visa versa. Taking all my profit is NOT capitalism, yes that makes you stupid!

Like I said, I've been in business for three decades

And I'm sure that Avon appreciates your loyalty.

There is no purely free market

So aside from the fact that your statement is a straw man, you're also now contradicting yourself. Previously, you said that markets were either entirely free, or were fascism. Now you're saying that there is no such thing as an entirely free market. If that is the case, then the United States has perpetually been a fascist economy. At least, according to you.

Tell me, how does it feel to look into your hands and see your ass?

The airforce started off as a wing of the Navy. So it's covered there.
Quit being an airhead. If you can.

Wrong. The legal system protects enforcement of contracts too. Maybe you want to call that "nanny state". But only if you're incredibly stupid.
