After more than a year of campaigning, hundreds of interviews, stadium rallies, debates, speeches and press conferences, it is still difficult to glean a platform from the Republican nominee's powerfully incoherent rhetoric and constantly evolving views.

The Republican nominee changes his mind so frequently and so dramatically that a compilation of his current policies would not tell the whole story, nor would it be up to date for very long -- he once offered up three different views on abortion in eight hours. By mixing facts with exaggerations and outright falsehoods while simultaneously refusing to offer specifics — insisting that unpredictability is an advantage he'll use to cut better deals — Trump and the Republican Party that's nominated him are putting forward the most elusive presidential platform in modern history.

The Democrat solution to poverty (called the "War on Poverty") was to provide cash stipends, free healthcare, subsidized housing, and food stamps who "those who needed it." Manifestly, those who needed it most were single mothers.

Thus the Democrat solution resulted in an explosion of single, unemployed motherhood, with young women perfectly satisfied to pop out kids and live on the Government's capacious teats for their entire natural lives. And of course, as the saying goes, "bastards beget bastards," so we have GENERATIONS of this phenomenon, thanks to the Democrat solution.

But everyone agrees (or so they say), these poor people WANT to work, they just can't get the kind of "good jobs" that will bring them into the Middle Class. Hence the $15/hr Minimum Wage push. OTOH, no rational person believes that any employer (other than the Government) will hire such people @ $15/hr, because they lack the basic work habits and skills that might make them worth that much, in economic terms.

So Trump's solution is to do everything the Government can do to promote business prosperity (reducing corporate income taxes, reducing the regulatory load, negotiating trade agreements that support American employment, limiting arcane permitting and licensing requirements that are barriers to entry of new businesses), in the HOPE that many more jobs will be created, so that The Poor can go after them.

It might not work. But the Democrat solutions have been tried for near 50 years, and they demonstrably HAVE NOT WORKED. In fact, in many ways things are worse now than they were when the War on Poverty was declared by President Johnson.

With this 50 years of failure, it is rather pathetic for Democrats to disparage Trump's plans as unlikely to work.
