What is the point of art if it’s not political?

One of the great gifts of theater, fiction, and visual art is the message couched in the medium. People think they are coming to it as a form of entertainment and then, almost accidentally, wind up thinking about the contentious and thorny issues raised. Racism, sexism, ableism, women’s rights, gay rights—every single one of those is at the heart of the stories we tell. That’s why we tell them, right? So that people without a voice have a chance to be heard

Depends on the type of art. I do paintings where the objective is simply having something that is pleasant to look at, and makes you feel good seeing it on your wall.

I have no interest in conveying anything political >>>

Tampa Bay Moonlight
- Semi-abstract rendition of the mood of a warm, rather humid night in the Tampa Bay area. The full moon casts a blueish tint on the trunk of the palm tree, the background boat, and the shallow, foreground water. A large waterbird (night heron) flies overhead.
