As we all know (except for some delusional right wingers on here) audio tapes were leaked from the Philly retreat by elected republicans. Here's an excerpt that will surely be labeled "fake news" because morons will always be morons.

Senators and House members expressed a range of concerns about the task ahead: how to prepare a replacement plan that can be ready to launch at the time of repeal; how to avoid deep damage to the health insurance market; how to keep premiums affordable for middle-class families; even how to avoid the political consequences of defunding Planned Parenthood, the women’s health-care organization, as many Republicans hope to do with the repeal of the ACA.

“We’d better be sure that we’re prepared to live with the market we’ve created” with repeal, said Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.). “That’s going to be called Trumpcare. Republicans will own that lock, stock and barrel, and we’ll be judged in the election less than two years away.”

Opinion | In leaked audio, Republicans destroy their own public talking points on Obamacare

So politicians who are discussing doing their job with minimal negative consequences mean we are all scared as hell?

That makes about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.

I remember way back when Obamacare was just going into effect, an article saying that it was a devious machination to destroy the private insurance industry so the only viable option left would be universal health care.

Dear nat4900
The way the strategy was explained to me:
if the Republicans had intervened sooner, when the Democrats would have blocked or CONTORTED the attempt to change it
and messed it up worse, the Republicans would be blamed.
So they kept it in place as is, as the DEMOCRATS passed or changed it, so the DEMOCRATS are blamed for that.

They have to wait until they can control what to replace it with that is going to be on them.
So unfortunately it was better to let Democrats suffer under their own plans
rather than get blamed if changing parts of it messed it up worse and got blamed on others.

I think to AVOID this blame game, keep the current plan for Democrats and others
who want to keep it, and add the other options for those who want that plan,
and let taxpayers choose which plan to be under.
A. for current ACA put forth by Democrats who are responsible for funding management and development for those members who sign on
B. for any replacement or reforms put forth by the Republicans and those who sign on under that
C. the default which is neither plan, and paying for health care by free market choice and charity where people decide where their money goes

Universal HC IS the viable alternative.....Let's join the rest of the civilized world and screw the hospitals' associations, Big pharma companies and physicians' unions....Health care for profit is a sin against humanity.......

Always remember that we are 34th in the world for life expectancy and morbidity, AND we pay four times as much for the privilege of dying early.

Somehow you are upset that Republicans are hard at work trying to provide sustainable affordable healthcare to all Americans after the Democrats failed to do this.

isn't it "wonderful" that us common Americans are pawns in the political chess match?

Dear nat4900
and none of this would be happening if we didn't enable and let govt abuse power this way.
If all Americans were educated and enforced Constitutional principles that keep federal
govt OUT of personal and private decisions, including health care and BELIEFS about it,
the Democrats could never have gotten away with overreaching in the first place.

But people either weren't educated, or they BELIEVE federal govt HAS this authority.
So we are stuck with that, unless we close that loop and start enforcing
Constitutional limits on govt by which this was never authorized.
Technically if you go by Constitutional procedures, an Amendment would be
passed first, establishing authority of federal govt to manage and regulate health care
to this degree; and THEN the legislation could be passed AFTER consent of the
taxpayers and states is established first. But that step was skipped, and so this was
not consented to.

So to be crude, it's like the difference between two parents arguing over how to
take care and raise a baby they AGREED to have in the first place.

Vs. two parents where the child was born of rape, and nobody planned what
to do and how to deal with the responsibility of a child resulting from this,
when it's a huge legal mess because of the rape that was illegal and caused unwanted consequences.
But there's also a baby with a future to deal with responsibly who had nothing to do with the contested actions
that led to the conception under hostile circumstances.

No, NO....I fully understand that for the last SEVEN years, republicans were too fucking busy worrying about Obama's birth certificate than to spend their precious time fixing health care......I understand your dilemma.

So now you should be comforted that Republicans are working to replace Obama's failed healthcare program with one that is both sustainable and affordable for all Americans. It is sad, however, that Democrats are too busy worrying about President Trump's tax returns to take any interest in healthcare for Americans.
