What if the Muslim/Arabs living in the West Bank totally divorced themselves from those in Gaza?

What I really mean is this: every time violence occurs either from Gaza or even the West Bank, Israel decides to build more settlements. Which in turn evokes more violence by the 'Palestinians'.. Which in turn evokes more settlements by Israel. Which in turn . . . . you get my drift.

What if it all stopped (or at least in the West Bank); what if those who wish to have non-violent protests in the West Bank distanced themselves so far as to call those in Gaza not them?. What if the peaceful protests stopped blocking roads? What if said divorce stopped the children from throwing rocks?

I know that this is a very complex situation and there are some Jewish/Israeli extremists sometimes keeping the fires lit in the 'illegal' settlements; however those are not protected AFAIK by the IDF. In fact, I have seen that some of those 'illegal' building built by Jewish extremists are torn down by the IDF.

But what if it all stopped. Then the 'Palestinian' non violent protests could almost be finally seen by the world like the US Civil Rights movement on the 60's.

I don't know enough, but maybe let them have Jericho and Rammala (sic), let the Jews have Hebron. Peaceful passage for either to both.

I don't know, maybe some of you will say that I am smoking pot of something, but actually not (I gave that up years ago, lol). Just trying to see if there is some sort of logical solution . . . .

Praying for the peace of the land.

Gaza fires rockets, Israel responds.
Most of the major settlements west of the wall have been discussed as part of a land trade. It is within those towns that building is scheduled, no creating new areas. Arabs Israelis do not want to become part of the WB. Giving gaza land is a more likely proposition.
Scattered settlements to the east that would become part of the PA, but Abbas has said no jews will be allowed to stay or be offered citizenship.

You have sense, Grasshopper, but lack knowledge.

Oh, but since Aris happens to come from that part of the world, I think most sensible people will sit up and take notice about what she says.

A little knowledge can seem a powerful thing. Ami went to Beirut for a few days. Millions of people have done the same. They all take a certain perspective for their time and where they went with them when they return to their home. People watching the news and surf the internet gain bits of knowledge and form opinions based on where they go and what they personal believe.

20+ yrs, minus boarding school, global travel, work overseas and time spent as a refugee of war. Because of my family's status I have international, military, political and legal perspective; my voluntary work as a liaison and also my helping our neighbor who was a nurse practitioner; my friendships growing up over the years, business and financial care of my mother's company; I was also raised in an unconventional way and had access and freedoms rare in the country, or most other places. I was a bit of an outside as my parent insisted I use an American passport and only a residency card so I never joined any political groups in college, did not vote and did not join the military there. I did represent in both summer and winter sports up to pan-arab level........ etc., etc., etc. It was a very full life, both good (fantastic) and bad (horrifying).

We all bring something with us in the way of experience, education and perspective. We all have something to say. Sometimes it might be incorrect, but that is how people learn (are supposed to learn) and grow.

"Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story" ~ Desiderata

Ami wants to show what s/he thinks or to vent. You might find some of it interesting, funny, bewildering, exasperating, thoughtful, informative or boring. This is a far cry from the FPRC but it entertains and distracts during coffee/tea breaks or days off.

Aris, you have always been respected on forums, and people have appreciated your knowledge and experience from that area of the world.. You have truly been a real asset.

Maybe this was in response to my OP?

If so, yes, you are correct. After taking a closer look at these settlements and the map, perhaps what I proposed does seem a bit far fetched. I am pro Israel, but am also trying to get at the un adulterated truth.

In a scant few years, these extremely well architected settlements will totally replace whatever non-peaceful Arab villages remain.

Peace ANYWHERE on earth is a matter of fairy dust.
