More American will have access to more drugs.
Drug companies will make more drugs.
Doctors will prescribe more drugs.

Is this a good thing? Aren't we 'overprescribed' as it is?

It has to do with the trademarking and patenting of drugs and granting manufacturers the ability to tweek a minor process or ingredient to renew proprietary rights instead of allowing generic manufacturing. Also, the ama and the pharma cartel own the FDA, who owns the right committees in Congress. I wouldn't expect too much.

I am glad to know, you either have no medical conditions threatening your life, requiring expensive drugs to allow you to go about your daily life, (or even continue living) or that you have adequate insurance or personal resources to allow you to meet the expense. Some do not. Should it be a death sentence in this country?

Would you also be glad to know that I stopped taking the drugs prescribed for me after my bypass surgery? Statins and BP drugs. They were making me sick. I'm doing fine without them, especially my blood pressure.

They will shift the cost onto non-government insured patients and life will go on.

My doctor tells me I have the fewest drugz prescribed for a person my age that she cares for. I don't like taking pills, and I loathe shotz..

I recently went in for an ear problem. The doctor was 'shocked' that I didn't take any drugs, at my age. He was also "flabbergasted" at my youthful appearance. He actually said it twice. Then he blew off my ear problem and told me to get a hearing aid.

After exam (never had heart attack) but missing cholesterol number by 2 points, was ordered on statin, no notice, no discussion, no high blood pressure, no other med problems of any kind. I said NO, and started adjusting diet. fine no high bp, no heart problems, but referred to cardiac doctor for exam. Found minor calcification. He said I had to take the statin and put me on mid/high dose. Within 30 days, had weakness, some mental degradation, sleep changes, muscle pains in leg, 50 year past tendinitis of Achilles tendon reactivated for first time since basic training. Called and told them, the high dose was killing me and drug reactions exhibited. OK. stop taking it. We'll give you something else. More statin, this time generic Crestor, but again and higher dose than recommended by the books (including PDR) for the problem identified. I said, hell no! Will not start at high dose and work down. Will try low dose and work up if necessary. OK. Low dose, it is. Doctors bear watching. Patients should be involved in their own treatment. Patients should watch for changes after starting a drug protocol. Patients should read medical research, reports on diagnosed conditions and levels of condition, standard treatment options, and known drawbacks to all medications (especially new one), and be able to intelligently take part in their own treatment, as it can affect the rest of their life.

I had malaise and muscle weakness from Atorvastatin, so I was put on Crestor. It was worse so I quit altogether. That was 6 or 7 years ago. I feel great, and if I croak tomorrow, I've had 6 or 7 good years. The BP med Lisinopril caused my BP to be all over the place. Since I quit that it has stabilized, resting BP 125/65. Heart rate mid 50's.
