We're becoming a sociallist country. Socialism doesn't accept the concept of personal property...
It's all about giving everyone equal slice of the pie. It doesn't work but that's the way these people think.
Wasn't that the 'American dream'?
The "American dream" was a life free of oppression where everyone had a chance to live life on their terms.
It still is, more so now that at any time in this Nations history.
During the 20th Century women were afforded the right to vote (19th Amendment), segregation with regard to race was ended (Brown v. Board of Education), discrimination with regard to ethnicity was made illegal (Hernandez v. Texas, Civil Rights Act of 1964), voting rights protected (Voting Rights Act of 1965), privacy rights acknowledged and protected (Griswold/Roe/Casey), the right to marry reaffirmed (Loving v. Virginia), and discrimination against homosexuals ended (Romer/Lawrence).
Theres still work to do, of course, such as securing the equal protection rights of same-sex couples, and defending privacy right from the reactionary right seeking to drag the Nation backwards; but on balance Americas greatness endures, and the best is yet to come.
