This is for mostly leftist ??

I agree that gun problem is beyond insanity but it seems to late to fix

All of the rational controls have already been done.

Prohibit undesirables (convicts, crazies) from owning guns,
Register anyone purchasing a gun from a licensed gun dealer,
Double the penalty for crimes committed with a gun,
Outlaw automatic weapons.

But wait, you could outlaw guns that look scary (aka "assault weapons"), but that would be utterly pointless.

Every other idea that crops up is unconstitutional.

Pistols and Shotguns only for private individuals. Rifles and anything else, only for military or government use. Pretty simple really.

If you want to hunt use a shotgun or something. You don't need an AR-15 ever.
Vast amount of gun deaths are from pistols

There is no need to prevent law abiding people from owning an AR-15, ever,

Exactly. The AR-15, in all its many, many variant calibers, is the modern equivalent of the muzzle loading rifle used centuries ago by American explorers and settlers, as much as it is also the modern equivalent of the lever action .30-30. Both historical weapons, as well as the AR-15, are family rifles, effective tools for feeding one's family and defending family against human and animal predators alike. Nothing more, nothing less. Further, how can these gun control fools trust government State security forces to responsibly own and use scary "black" rifles, but not themselves and their fellow citizens?

long guns are good for many things !!

hand guns are the problem
