Majority of Americans say U.S. special to God | Baptist Press

LifeWay Research reports that most Americans believe God has a special relationship with the United States, sand they're optimistic the best is yet to come. www.baptistpress.com

For America to be great again, Saint Woodnutz Do you believe there must be a white Christian revival or Great Awakening that America can be a land blessed by the God (of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob)?

How many born again white Christians will it take to Make America Great Again in the image of the God (of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob)?
I think the nation has already received God's blessing. It's pretty much over now. Those blessings weren't meant to be perpetual. God will continue to bless individuals as he always has, but the nation is no longer being blessed. :(

One could make a serious case that America was never that great. Throughout our history, things have been done that were reprehensible, racism, sexism, and all manner of discrimination has occurred. But until now, women, children, and the elderly mostly could at least walk the streets unmolested. People didn't walk into a store and walk out with whatever they wanted without paying for it and they did so without consequence or conscience. We mostly trusted our gov't and it's agencies, and we trusted our schools to educate our children as best they could without prejudice. All in all though, America has always been a land of opportunity. There's a reason why since it's inception people from the world over have come here to build a better life.

But no more. We are no longer the country I believed in when I was young. We do not trust our institutions as we once did, and hope and faith are dying here. Mostly I believe the democrats are responsible for all of this, the GOP is not blameless and they have abandoned the principles they once stood for. IMHO, Donald Trump is trying to turn things around and change the course we are on from destruction to a better place. Maybe we should just say let's make America a better place.

Then Trump chose a very poor sales pitch for him to be the guy to turn things around through the democratic process thatTrump was bequeathed by the found King generation to all of us. A great gift that I think is worth preserving and needs to be pritected at any cost for our posterity

If MAGA is a reality, then any Republicans in D.C. voting for FISA to spy on Americans are not that. Where I live Waltz voted for extending it. And I have learned part of areas I live in are authoritarian even if Republican and not Progressive Socialist. Surveillance and profiling on you while they say you are free, and you must comply is totalitarianism.

If MAGA means Make American Great Again, it means we were once great.

Can somewhat tell me when that was, what made us "great" and when you'll know we've gotten back to that point ?

I contend that people (because I've been cornering them on this topic) don't know what they mean when they say MAGA.

Nobody I've talked to can give me specifics.

One person I talked to said:

Well, in 1960, we didn't have the illegal problem we have now. So I asked what the problem is now (in terms of numbers). Didn't have it. How about 1960...didn't have it. I decided to forego the easy follow up question and move on.

So I am going to say, I think America is great now. We have A LOT of issues, for sure. But I still love living here and am grateful for my freedoms and liberties.

I see MAGA as a sales pitch and an implication that we've lost something (but nobody can tell me what). And I am not so sure American was any greater then than it is today.

Let me know what you think.

Rule #1: Provide specifics.

Rule #2: If you want to argue generalities, you have to be very clear on what they are and the basis for them.

Rule #3: No commentary on the "other side"
Very clear on generalities --- I 'd like to see that.

KILL FISA,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

After the election in November the negative MAGA Christian voter like Saint Woodnutz there will return to a focus on the second coming of Jesus rather than installing a stand in for Jesus in the White House.

That will spell doom for MAGA regardless of the discussion here to define it.

The national character has sunk so low that America will still be circling the drain regardless of who is elected. :omg:

America was never more than a very GREAT idea. It sounds to me like you have given up on the GREAT idea because you’re not getting your way to have an Authoritarian government to clean up the things that cannot harm you, but you do not like.

But MAGA under Trump want to cede more Ukrainian territory to Putin in an attempt to appease the war criminal who ordered the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A string American leader would tell Putin to get the Fuck out of Ukraine including Crimea and start paying retribution for war crimes.

Trump is pathetically weak against Putin

Thank you for linking that into the discussion.

I am all for the idea of talking about our character as much as I am about our people.

So:

1. Bragging about "grabbing them....." (regardless of whether it happened or not) isn't good character.
2. Calling people names and insulting them isn't good character. i.e "Basket of Deplorables"
3. Lying and being dishonest isn't good character.
4. Stealing isn't good character.
5. Divorce is a sign of weakness in our character (and spare me the one-offs).
6. Etc. Etc. Etc.
