The chancellor has said the government will have to raise some taxes in October's Budget after months of speculation about Labour's stance on tax.

"I think we will have to increase taxes in the Budget," Rachel Reeves told the News Agents podcast.

She was responding to a question about raising money following her claim on Monday that the previous government left a £22bn "hole" in the public finances.

Labour said repeatedly during the election campaign there would be no tax rises on "working people", but the Conservatives have insisted Labour will increase them.

I have highlighted the lie in blue for them to justify the lie in red. Which kind of idiot would vote Left Wing?

Taxes were a lot higher when Labour was in power before in the UK, why would the subjects of Charles III be surprised by massive increases in their burden now?

As long as they increase the right taxes i don't have a problem, but i have not heard her say they will put taxes up.

ONe who votes against people who create $22 Billion holes in the budget?

It would appear that Labour purposely lied before the election about no tax increases, yet they were intent on doing so. That was to help them get elected. Then they manufactured a mysterious £22bn black hole so they could claim, "Oh shit, we're gonna have to raise taxes".

Quite a few months ago, government finances went from a deficit to a several billion saving. That's why those in Whitehall are scratching their heads on where this black hole was supposed to be hiding.

And the Lefty gullible suck up Labour's shit show.

Did you ask yourself that if there's a £22b black hole in the accounts, which accounting staff are going to be prosecuted for falsifying records?

Tories have been in charge since William III it seems. This is all conservative crap.

When the Tories were in, who was the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer? What is the job description of the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer? And the former Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer is saying there's a black hole in the finances? Who would be stupid enough to believe that?
