The real problem, I think, is that in the rush for more profits and bigger CEO salaries, the squeeze has been put on workers to the point where government benefits look more lucrative than actually working for a living.

One of my salesmen here had a woman in his office yesterday wanting to lease a brand new Focus. As he was reviewing her credit app with her he noticed she was on social security disability. SS is a system that never ever should have come to pass but it did and we are now stuck with it. To bad some folks don't want to do what it takes to make it something that will be here for the future. Band aids and kicking it down the road isn't going to solve its problems.

IF this is true. This person went through several doctors needed to convince the SSDI board that they really are disabled. And this person didn't do it on their own. They hired an attorney. Who made good money for the work.

Hospitals would send "uninsured"claims to the Uninsured Health Insurance Co. that manages the 8 million "uninsured" premium from the lawyers!
Then watch how the claims costs sent by hospitals to Medicare/private insurance decline!

All of these having a reducing effect on health care costs which lowers insurance premium costs!

The friend gets money for providing child care for the slut's four children and the slut gets money for providing child care for the friend's three children.

The slut has no idea in the world who the fathers of any of her children are. Nor does she care. When she wants more money she gets pregnant, the man is just providing a stud service. She isn't being helped until she gets on her feet. She's never worked. She will never work.

AND if she has children in the home, they get small stipends to offset the fact that they have a disabled parent; and it's quite possible that she receives child support as well.

Many clients get multiple entitlements. I've had SSI moms who get SSI (disability for people who have no work quarters) for themselves, SSI for children...SSI supplements for children, TANF for the children, state-paid medicare premium, free (or almost free) rent and utilities, child support.

These families are not rare. For one thing, an SSI mom has never worked to amount to anything, or finished college, or done much of anything which means she's got something wrong with her. Sometimes it's just sheer overwhelming stupidity, laziness and complete committment to meeting the requirements of the entitlements she receives. These women usually get SSI because they test in the "special' range, have had tremendous trauma in their lives that has somehow stunted them. They come from insanely dysfunctional families...and we're not talking about garden variety drunks and addicts...SSI moms typically come from families that are known for functioning at a substandard level...families of "retards' and/or families known for incest/sex offenses, who have experienced trauma (often repeatedly) like house fires, murders, rapes, etc.

SSI families often hook up, giving you mixed families with two adults (and often children as well) on SSI for some diagnosed issue that prevents them from functioning as normal people in adult society.

These are the people who get a lot of supplements. They operate on the fringes of society. Yes they get involved in scams, yes they have entitlement mentalities (the world owes them a living, and usually it's been their family's role in the community for generations. These are often the village idiots.)

But they're just people. They can't take care of themselves, they're missing whatever gene it is that compels people to move forward, to become increasingly more self sufficient as years go by, to want to appear as capable adults in their children's eyes.

Two quick points; I know someone who is on disability. It took her three years to get approval and this woman can barely walk. She truly is disabled from a car accident that messed up her back years ago. The second point regarding the amount of welfare this woman is supposedly receiving would be based on how many kids she has. My guess, and this is just a guess, is that she has five or more kids, and that is the reason she is receiving so much in aid.

We all know and hear stories of people who game the system, and believe me, nobody supports that, not even Democrats who work for a living. The difference is that Democrats don't want to gut welfare programs because of people who take advantage, because there is a realization that there are real people who truly need that aid and who cannot work or support themselves. By gutting these programs, as many Republicans would love to do, we would leave millions of truly needy people out on the street.

The system is not perfect, but you don't destroy the entire system because of some bad apples. Our justice system convicts innocent people all the time. Should we dump our justice system and let everyone go free because a few innocent people are wrongly sent to prison? That would be very much the same type of thinking, but I'm sure you would agree that doing such a thing would not be in our best interest.

There is no GOP plan to wipe out Social Security. To say otherwise is an outright LIE. Romney's plan doesn't change a single thing for people who are already retired or who will retire soon. AND... people who want Traditional Medicare will still be able to choose it.
