I prefer 00 Buck myself. I've heard a good argument for #1 Buck. If I were really concerned about over penetration, then
I'd use #4 Buck but no smaller. I put a 18.5" barrel on my 590 Mossy for ease of use indoors.

Mossbergs are nice. I have one with both a short barrel and long barrel combo.

Yes bird shot is generally considered less lethal.

I prefer federal premium tactical #4 Buck with a improved cylinder choke.....Devastating within 25 yards and not too shabby at 40.

I saw a guy killed with a load of #8 shot. He was shot at about two yards and the shot column at that distance acted like a slug. It eat a hole in the guy's chest and broke his spine but never exited, the shot cup was still inside of him....But yeah it sucks otherwise.

OO buckshot, but shifted to 9mm gold dots or critical duty as got old and fat.

The daughter was a problem. She's this thin elf without strong fingers. She can't really rack a pistol slide or squeeze a revolver trigger. After some testing we have gone back to her first rifle. Its a youth sized 5lb semi .22lr rifle. Has a big bolt handle and moderate trigger. 25 round mag. Rack and magdump. Not a fan of .22 for defense but stingers meet FBI Penetration requirements and nothing says I love you like ten to the chest.

They make small semi-auto handguns with "easy rack" slides. I don't know much about them other than the Beretta tip-ups.

Ruger makes a poly frame DA only revolver with the best DA pull I've ever used.

If memory serves they make a .22 and .22 magnum version but a .38 with 147 gr wadcutters is a pussycat load and serves for SD.

Back when I had some shotguns to toy around with (Ithica Deerslayers, Remington 870s, Mossberg 500, old Marlin) - I used to load my own shells for home defense - using fishing sinkers, guitar string, Steel Shot, etc.

Then I discovered some YouTube sources where they take it to a whole nuther level!

I've heard of loading shotshells with dimes.

Keep the change MF'er!! :auiqs.jpg:

I want one of those. I traded in my S&W 649 for a S&W 442 Airweight.

LOL.....Back when there were surplus flechetts available for cheap I used to load them into shotshells. I must have not done it right because they would keyhole much beyond 10 yards.

The US Army experimented with flechettes during the Vietnam War. The combat shotgun was useful in jungle patrolling.

Yes the wife has a Beretta Storm with about the easiest slide I have ever seen and the rotating bolt halves felt recoil. Its slso why I got the FPS (9mm carbine). The rack is in the back on the stock and the wife can do it. Frankly I rack it like the world's biggest pistol.

I have a Beretta CX4 Storm carbine....Nice companion carbine to a M92 pistol as it uses the same mags.

I found it hard to scope so found a intermediate eye relief scope that fits between the "humps" and that solved the problem of having to mount a scope too high.
