True.....but they need to be reminded how fucked-up they are for supporting someone like Trump.

I think there's a mix, although they are definitely all responsible for their actions, of course.

Before I retired, I had many Trumpster clients and unfortunately the topic often ended up being political (I was a financial advisor, and so politics often intruded directly or indirectly on their personal financial lives).

Many of them were just simply mal-informed, manipulated with bad information and myopic perspectives. They were often paranoid and subject to the latest goofy conspiracy theory. The historical comparison would be "useful idiots". I used to have to "talk them down" but I never knew how long that lasted.

But there were a few who were essentially malevolent. They had a real rage in them, and the rage was usually directed specifically at other Americans (as we see on this board daily). They're more of the True Believers, the Stephen Miller types, those whose historical comparisons were, uh, darker.

I saw something just a day or two ago, that this is more about morality than politics. As you say, there is something about this that makes people across the political spectrum look at friends and family members in a new way. Sadly.
