I promised AboveAlpha that I would not tell our mutual friends online that he had an IQ of 172.

Once he disappeared off the discussion forum where I met him I no longer felt bound to my promise to him.

For the record, AboveAlpha left several of us with the question on our minds if he might perhaps be The Robert O'Neil???

I am ninety nine percent certain that The Robert O'Neil WILL NOT MIND if people start to wonder if he is the guy with an IQ of 172 or so?

For the record I was told after I wrote the SAT that my IQ was 118. That was back when I was twenty or twenty one years old, [1980]. [My butchering the grammar and spelling of the title of this thread is evidence that my buddy had more than fifty more IQ points than I am working with]?

AboveAlpha said:
We have passed a THRESHOLD as no matter what we do we have gone BEYOND THE POINT OF A FIX as far as CLIMATE CHANGE.

NOTHING we do from this point on will stop the melting of the Northern and Southern Polar Sea Ice and the Greenland Glaciers.

Here in lies the problem and if you want to learn more run a search on this.....CDIAC.....CARBON DIOXIDE INFORMATION ANALYSIS CENTER.

The CDIAC is a part of the U.S. DOE...DEPT. OF ENERGY'S OFFICE OF SCIENCE at Oak Ridge National Labs.

If you watch the top of the web page there is a chart and every 20 to 30 seconds or so the CHART CHANGES and will give you the WORLD'S MOST ACCURATE AND UNBIASED DATA concerning CO2, CH4...which is METHANE which exists at the bottom of all Earth's Ocean's Arctic Lakes and within Permafrost and Tundra and CH4 holds in HEAT in our Atmosphere at a rate of approx.71 TIMES GREATER THAN CO2

The CH4 at the bottom of the Oceans and in Permafrost and Arctic Lakes exists as CH4 GEL or Methane Gel.

The Human generated emmisions of CO2 have warmed up the Earth's Ocean's and thus Air to a point that is CAUSING THE GEL FORM CH4 TO BUBBLE UP AND OUT INTO OUR ATMOSPHERE AS METHANE GAS!!!

This is how DIRE the problem is....the U.S. DOE's Office of Science's CDIAC is the ONLY DATA the U.S. Military considers to be trustworthy and viable thus this data is imputted into either Banked and Networked IBM Supercomputers or is imputted into the U.S. Military's new QUANTUM COMPUTERS for ONE SOLE PURPOSE!!!

That purpose is TO PLAN FOR THE EVENTUALITY OF WORLDWIDE WAR OVER RESOURCES!!!

What is going to happen and NOT MAYBE HAPPEN but WILL HAPPEN is this......when too much FRSH WATER is dumped into the NORTH ATLANTIC CURRENT or GULF STREAM which is a OCEAN WATER HEAT EXCHANGE SYSTEM.....as Warm Gulf of Mexico Water in a very strong current flows around the tip of Florida and up North up the East Coast and then angles across the Atlantic Ocean to the British Isles...which is by the U.K. which is further North than Massachusetts has much milder winters......

.....well the WARM WATER is LIGHTER and travels upon the top of the bottom COLD WATER THERMOCLINE....which is the COLD WATER flowing from the Arctic Ocean around Greenland and above the U.K. as this colder heavier water flows underneither the warmer lighter water coming up from the Gulf of Mexico......

......well there will come a day....SOON.....when the Earth has warmed up just a single degree to much and this will cause so much Polar and Greenland FRESH WATER ICE MELT....as the ICE that covers Greenland and the North Polar Arctic Ocean is FRESH WATER.....and because it is FRESH WATER....IT IS LIGHTER THAN OCEAN SALT WATER........

.......because of this when too much LIGHTER FRESH WATER MELTS AND IS DUMPED INTO THE NORTH ATLANTIC....as it is cold water but NOT SALT WATER....IT WILL WEIGH ROUGHLY ABOUT THE SAME WEIGHT AS THE WARM SALT WATER THAT IS FLOWING UP FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO AROUND THE TIP OF FLORIDA AND UP NORTH AND ACROSS THE ATLANTIC.

When this happens the Cold but FRESH WATER melted from Global Warming will STALL THE WARM SALT WATER TRAVELING NORTH FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO.

Thus warm water will stop flowing NORTH and the COLD WATER will STOP FLOWING SOUTH....as the COLD WATER will reach a point of desalinization so that it weighs the same as the WARM SALT WATER TRYING TO TRAVEL NORTH.

This will STALL THE NORTH ATLANTIC CURRENT'S HEAT TRANSFER SYSTEM!!!

And GUESS what happens next??

Have you ever watched the movie THE DAY AFTER TOMMORROW????

If you have....then you understand.

I do hope that this discussion does not offend The Robert O'Neil. He doesn't impress me as somebody who would mind being associated with "AboveAlpha?"

Robert J. O'Neill is a former U.S. Navy SEAL (1996–2012), renowned for his role in Operation Neptune Spear (2011), where he claims to have fired the shots that killed Osama bin Laden. With over 400 missions and 52 decorations, including two Silver Stars, he served in elite units like SEAL Team Six. He authored the memoir The Operator and currently hosts a podcast.
Key Details About Robert O'Neill:
  • Military Career: Born in Butte, Montana, O'Neill served for 16 years, participating in numerous combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • The Mission: He was a key member of the team that executed the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
  • Controversy: Following the 2011 raid, he became a subject of controversy for publicly claiming to be the sole individual who shot bin Laden.
  • Post-Navy Life: O'Neill is an author, public speaker, and co-founder of "Your Grateful Nation," which helps Special Operations veterans transition to new careers.
  • Books: He wrote The Operator: Firing the Shots that Killed Osama bin Laden and My Years as a SEAL Team Warrior.
Key Aspects of "The Operator":
  • Content: The book details his upbringing, his decision to join the SEALs, and his experiences in high-stakes combat.
  • Narrative: It provides a firsthand, detailed account of the mission to kill bin Laden, as well as other missions, bringing to life the "lethal efficiency" of Tier One units.
  • Perspective: The book covers the "nonstop action" of his deployments and the "black humor" of years-long combat.

For the record I have both the audio version of his book "The Operator" as well as the hard copy.

The Operator: Firing the Shots that Killed Osama bin Laden and My Years as a SEAL Team Warrior

by Robert O'Neill (Author)

12,783 ratings

This instant New York Times bestseller—“a jaw-dropping, fast-paced account” (New York Post) recounts SEAL Team Operator Robert O’Neill’s incredible four-hundred-mission career, including the attempts to rescue “Lone Survivor” Marcus Luttrell and abducted-by-Somali-pirates Captain Richard Phillips, and which culminated in the historic raid that led to the death of the world’s most wanted terrorist—Osama bin Laden.

In The Operator, Robert O’Neill describes his idyllic childhood in Butte, Montana; his impulsive decision to join the SEALs; the arduous evaluation and training process; and the even tougher gauntlet he had to run to earn a place on SEAL Team Six. After officially becoming a SEAL, O’Neill would spend more than a decade in the most intense counterterror effort in US history. For extended periods, not a night passed without him and his small team recording multiple enemy kills—and though he was lucky enough to survive, several of the SEALs he’d trained with and fought beside never made it home.

“Impossible to put down…The Operator is unique, surprising, a kind of counternarrative, and certainly the other half of the story of one of the world’s most famous military operations…In the larger sense, this book is about…how to be human while in the very same moment dealing with death, destruction, combat” (Doug Stanton, New York Times bestselling author). O’Neill delivers a military memoir as he describes the nonstop action of his deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, evokes the black humor of years-long combat, brings to vivid life the lethal efficiency of the military’s most selective units, and reveals details of the most celebrated terrorist takedown in history. Perfect for fans of American Sniper, Lone Survivor, and Horse Soldiers, this gripping page-turner is “a riveting, unvarnished, and wholly unforgettable portrait of America’s most storied commandos at war” (Joby Warrick).

Dennis, what do you hope to accomplish in this post? Is it about climate change or about killing Bin Laden? Maybe the end of the world?

I am of the belief that Christians like me have Wonderful News for all the world.

Our IGNORANCE on pretty much every topic is a significant part of the Cause for all the problems of the world.... and if we can plead guilty to being less than perfectly well informed....... then that is good news because the world situation will improve and improve and improve if Messianic Jews like me... and Christians... and Jews.... and Muslims... [The People of The Book], will admit that our IGNORANCE is actually a significant and actually critical aspect of what is wrong with this world?

By 1990 I was beginning to realize that I personally had been IGNORANT on the topic of the afterlife but I was soon shown that I had also been ignorant on pretty much ever major topic that I began to research.

Wow... I am not very good at handling the coding in the edit button here either!

6;My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." [Hosea 4:6]

In a way I am guilty of name dropping, that could potentially draw more and more people toward taking the author seriously and not simply reply with some variation of "Climate Change is a Hoax" or something along that line?

My goal is to assist conservatives in the USA and Canada to begin to decide that it will be a good thing if President Trump and his team can convince ten million Israelis and one billion Islamic neighbours to begin to literally turn deserts green?

I am hoping to make this world a somewhat safer and wealthier place through this discussion.

So this is about all of the topics that you refer to, [sort of], but my number one goal is to assist Messianic Jews and Christians like myself to begin to question that our IGNORANCE can play a huge role in this earth being smitten with a curse, if we will not begin to question our own ideas that could be seriously flawed?

Literally turning deserts green in the Middle East is a win, win, win, win, win, win scenario for ten million Israelis and a billion or more of their neighbours in the M. E.

So now I know why this topic is not about Bin Laden the end of the world nor about climate.

So now I know why this topic is not about Bin Laden the end of the world nor about climate.

Actually here is the list of what I am hoping to get people questioning:

1. The alternative theory on stabilization through turning deserts green

2. All of us conservatives in the USA and Canada are not as well informed on climate change as we tend to think that we are

3. President Trump and his team would love to convince ten million Israelis and a billion of their Islamic neighbours to cooperate on turning deserts green with Israeli technology, so it would be nice if more of his supporters would catch on to how the Abraham Accords could lead to a massive shift in the Middle East that neither Al Gore or Bill Gates would automatically agree with.

4. Turning deserts green is a win, win, win, win, win scenario for all residents of nations that have lots of desert but every cubic meter of sea water or ocean water that is desalinated and added to the depleted underground water table of a nation with lots of desert will tend to protect all real estate worldwide that is vulnerable to rising ocean levels.

[New Mexico biologist and bicycling coach Carl Cantrell] :

"So how is our problem of continental drying causing global warming? It all has to do with vegetation and sunlight. When sun light hits a plant, it causes a process which we call photosynthesis where the energy from the sun light creates oxygen for us to breathe, water for us to drink, and is stored as sugar for plants and animals to use. When the same sun light hits the soil, all of its energy turns into heat and is radiated back into the atmosphere.. ."

"Therefore, the less vegetation you have on the planet, the more sunlight is being turned into heat and the warmer the planet becomes...."

"Just take a look at any satellite picture of the earth showing heat and you will see that our deserts are the warmest spots on the planet by far. More heat is being generated by just one of the top four or five deserts than by all of our cities combined.... "

"The truth is that you can do more to decrease global warming by just reducing the average temperature for the Sahara Desert by one or two degrees than if we humans completely quit using fossil fuels and returned to the cave…."

"So, how would you start working to resolve this problem? Easy, cool the deserts and get some vegetation growing on them as soon as possible. But the method is much more complex than that. You have to use the prevailing trade winds in relation to the deserts to get the best results as quickly as possible and it will be extremely expensive…."

"Then we build desalination plants along the coast near these water sheds and pipe water to the tops or ridges of the water sheds…"

"We need to start working on this as soon as possible because, if the planet reaches a point to where it is warming faster than our technology can possibly stop or reverse this warming trend, then our planet is lost and all life will cease to exist on this planet within a relatively short period of time. We will need to start with the largest and hottest deserts because cooling them will have the greatest benefit in the least time (Global Warming II by biologist Carl Cantrell)."

About

The Sorek desalination plant is one of a kind and the largest seawater desalination plant operating with 16’’ elements in a unique vertical arrangement.

It provides potable water for millions of people, comprising 20% of the municipal water demand in Israel, thus greatly contributing to the country’s water system resilience (while minimizing the environmental impact).

In 2018 IDE sold Sorek 1 desalination plant to Dan Capital. The sale was required under a deal agreed by IDE with antitrust (competition) authorities allowing IDE to bid on a BOT tender for a second SWRO desalination plant at Soreq.

  • Capacity: 640,000 mÂł/day
  • Technology: Reverse Osmosis (RO)
  • Water Source: Seawater
  • Contract type: BOT For 25 years
  • Usage: Potable Water
  • Location: Rishon Le Zion, Israel
  • Customer: Israel Water Authority
  • Commissioning date: 2013

Thank you Robert W. Your questions and comments helped this to get off to a good beginning.

Fremont California wanted the water in the ground to be used for residents. Trouble was the water in wells was salty. So, to get pure water, they drilled wells close to the SF Bay and pumped that water into the Bay drawing that water to the Bay, behind the water left was much cleaner. And this water was pumped to facilities that delivered pure treated water to drink.; It took time to work but it delivers great water now.

That is truly encouraging information.

I would like to see my own people, [Conservative Christians], give at least a little bit of credit to Al Gore for warning us about Climate Change in General. Everybody who lives in Alaska, the Canadian Arctic and in southern Greenland knows that they know that they know that the Arctic is warming.

It is likely that sooner or later the Land Based Greenland Ice Sheets will eventually begin to crack and slide ice bergs into the North Atlantic at a level that will likely lead to at least some rise in ocean levels. So far, for not merely decades but for centuries, the ADDITION of H2O to the massive Antarctic Ice Sheets has kept ocean levels stable.

I believe that Mr. Al Gore was either not entirely well informed about how important a role in keeping ocean levels was being performed by Antarctica or perhaps........
.... [then again that is another topic somewhat]?!

No offense intended towards "Above Alpha" but my opinion is "he" has jumped on top the ACC/AGW bandwagon and is spreading more illusion/delusion about "Climate Change".

My quibbles;
1) Too many half informed throw out the term "climate change" without the qualifier as to if they are referring to Natural Climate Change or Human-caused/Anthropogenic Climate Change.

When it comes to "Natural Climate Change" this always happening (always has been) and global climate is in constant state of flux and in general either moving out of an Ice Age, or into an Ice Age. Study and data of the Earth's climate history shows there is no real "stabilization", i.e. Nature doesn't offer a "thermostat" that can be "set" to keep climate within a narrow range of temperatures and conditions. When viewed from scale of a few decades it may seem to be relatively stable, but when the scale of view expands to centuries then the flux becomes more apparent and increases so when moving towards scales of millennia.

Human additions to the volume of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere are still fractions of one percent of one percent of total atmospheric composition. Basic physics would suggest that these molecules in such minuscule amount will have negligible affect upon atmospheric temperatures. The greater effect comes from ground(dirt) temperatures and ocean temperatures which will change atmosphere temperatures more than the other way around.

2) Even with increased melt of glaciers and the flow of colder fresh water into the oceans, thermoclines aside (negligible effect) the larger volume of warmer water in the ocean currents will warm the cold fresh melt water more than the other way around. Then there remain the evaporation effects, not included it seems and the resulting precipitations. Where we get melt in one place we will get rain/snow fall in others.

3) At his point we humans don't know enough to safely Geo-engineer climate and not fugg things up worse. So far, other data on flora growth and crop harvest increases show that a slight increase in CO2 and/or climate warming is providing more food for the growing human population and appears to be a net gain, not an impending peril of doom.

BTW, latest data shows the Antarctic Ice Sheets have been growing not shrinking.

I have to admit that that exact possible criticism crossed my mind as well but......
I was also hopeful that he might just shift around the the alternative theory on stabilization of the climate that was put forward by New Mexico biologist and coach Carl Cantrell.

Two effective methods to combat global warming and simultaneously fight rising ocean levels have been proposed by New Mexico biologist Carl Cantrell:
[Carl Cantrell] "So how is our problem of continental drying causing global warming? It all has to do with vegetation and sunlight. When sun light hits a plant, it causes a process which we call photosynthesis where the energy from the sun light creates oxygen for us to breathe, water for us to drink, and is stored as sugar for plants and animals to use.
