Zone1 Was it right for blacks to boycott Target unless they gave special favoritism to blacks?

Their Extortion violates many laws, and falls into the racketeering laws like BLM was doing to businesses, acting like mobsters threatening businesses to extort from them.
They were asking Target to violate Equal Employment Opportunity Laws, and it's principles of equal employment opportunities for all.
Basically asking them to be breaking discrimination in employment laws that was set up to protect them in the first place.
LOL no. The courts have already ruled that boycotts are not illegal when they're political. If colored banks and colored colleges in the boycott however, demanded money specifically for themselves, then it would be illegal. Also, part of the boycott was demanding that Target fulfill what they promised.

It's all moot anyway because boycotts practically always fail.

it's not the boycott, it's the demands.

There has been a months-long boycott of Target, led by by activists, as a result of Target failing to yield to their demands. These demands included not only a continuation of DEI policies that favor minorities over whites in hiring and promotions, but also:
  • give $250 million to black-owned banks
  • adopt six black colleges (HBCUs) to provide opportunities for black students
  • invest $2 billion in black-owned businesses by favoring them over white-owned for shelf space

Questions:

1. is it racist to prioritize blacks over whites in such a way?

2. Was the price of a boycott worth it, since tens of thousands of people - including minorities - lost their job as a result of falling sales?

Yea, this is a weird one. I listened to an interview with the organizer, and couldn't figure out what the beef was.

Threads have been moved and closed with far less incendiary titles than this.

Any person or group can choose to boycott whatever they want in this country. Whites do not get to determine what we decide to boycott, or the reasons we choose to do so.

And whites are allowed to object to the abject racism behind the demands - favoring black businesses, favoring black colleges and their students, and continuing to discriminate against whites in hiring and promotions.

Blacks were not getting special favoritism by Target.
It’s right in their list of demands! Allocate $2 billion to black-owned businesses? Give money to black colleges? That’s not favoritism?

it's not the boycott, it's the demands.
They are effectively saying that unless Target discriminates against whites, they will try to bring them down.

Can you clarify what the boycott is about and why Target? This a question not criticism.
It’s about the insistence that Target meet their specific demands to invest $2 billion in black-owned businesses and financially “adopt” black college students, along with continuing DEI policies.

As far as why Target, my guess is that they were targeted (ha-ha) because they are - or were - a very woke store, and like Jesse James, the activists went to where the money was. IOW, to the corporation most likely to yield to their racist demands.

I really don't feel I should answer this question especially because this thread was created by a racist b---- who lies about why it was done. This is about Targets hiring practices and the fact that they eliminated DEI. Blacks spend a lot of money there and so perhaps blacks should also be equally able to get jobs there. The OP, who is a member of the group who has benefited the most from DEI has no right to make the claim that she's making. There are more white women working there because of DEI than blacks, so ask Lisa it is fair for white women to get special favoritism

FFS, there is nothing racist about my objecting to blatant racism - such as is being demanded by the boycotters.

IM2 thinks that blacks can continue to get special favoritism from corporations - like $2 billion invested in black-owned businesses and adopting black colleges to support black students - by screaming “waaaaacist!!” at any white who objects to racism.

Now either stop with all your lies about me, or get off my thread. This is a clean debate.

There are limits. Courts have found, for example, that collusion boycotts by 2+ businesses against a competitor is illegal.

But yes, there is nothing illegal about the current boycott of Target.

But again, it's all moot because boycotts are ineffective.

Target should be employing more Black University Grads as trolley boys? Is that all IM2 is saying a degree from a black college gets you? It's all honest work of course.
