Stopping at a Wendy's on Interstate 80 the other day, and wanting to pay cash for my "meal," I went up to the counter and was waited on by an Assistant Manager (according to her name-tag). She appeared to be mid-30's. My total came out to $17.78, and just making conversation, I asked, "I wonder what was going on in 1778...the Revolutionary War, perhaps?"

The Assistant Manager looked at me with a puzzled look on her face, and asked, "What's the difference between the Revolutionary War and the 'Hitler thing'?"

I have to admit, I didn't really know how to answer..."A couple hundred years, maybe?"

"I get those numbers all confused," she responded. Then she regaled me with her educational history, starting with dropping out of HS as a Freshman, getting her GED, then getting an Associate's Degree in Sociology. Not History, certainly.

Harris voter. Definitely.

What do you want from someone whose toughest decision is……Do you want fries with that?

Not someone you want to discuss historical relevance with

Lol, ya might be surprised who is standing behind a counter. Brilliance many times is near madness. I know of three such cases of people with PHDs. Unfortunately Brilliant but also crazy. One works a carry out. One delivers pizza. The other continually goes to school and argues with herself on a metro bus.

Republicans don't even know they're weird. Who walks up to someone and asks "I wonder what was going on in 1778...the Revolutionary War, perhaps?"

At least DGS49 knows his limits. If he's going to try and debate someone, it should be a fast food worker. Not the kind of person you find on Jeopardy. More like Family Feud.

Even someone who majored in History would look at that question and ask…WTF does that have to do with your order ?

In the Southwest / West usually that person is an immigrant.

I would have said, "which country?"

A public education involves putting a condom on a banana and a guilt trip for racism but not much else.

Having worked skut jobs in the past I am aware that some of such people may be brilliant, etc.

One hopes, perhaps in vain, that "we all" share certain basic knowledge and awareness, at least partly because everyone else's vote counts as much as mine. A vote that is based in misinformation or ignorance is worse than no vote at all. (This is why I generally don't vote in judicial elections).

These people may be brilliant but they are ignorant in the true sense of the word. Maybe it's an intentional effort by the socialist left to cut off ties to the past and create a new society.

I don't think it's strange at all for someone to see a price of $17.78 and think of the year. If anything, I would consider pattern recognition like that a sign that something is happening up in the brain, as opposed to just stumbling through. It probably took her off guard, though.

But there are plenty of people who have just never bothered to remember things they were taught in high school. The answer to that is not to encourage them not to vote, but to remind them what was happening in 1778 and, as importantly, what was happening with "that Hitler thing."

I'm surprised the price isn't $17.99.

Let me guess. You don't have a college degree?

It's funny to hear people like you bashing education. When people with college degrees make 1 million more over 30 years than our uneducated co workers.

I find this topic fascinating. 1. The republican answer to unaffordable college is don't go. And now you are bashing public education. Not private schools. Who tend to have richer students. Who all tend to go on to college and get degrees because unlike you, they realize a college degree is necessary in America.

Unless you want to be a plumber or painter. Honorable blue college jobs but not what I dream of for my kids.

Don't be so hard on yourself .

Most decent people will help old chaps like yourself solve small daily problems which control their lives .
Most of you provide light relief which is what you usually spray onto to the floor when in the bathroom .

A Diploma Means Daddy Buying Dummy a Job

Somebody who is truly educated, instead of superficially through CliffsNotes College, would ask if college graduates deserve to make a million dollars more, given their obvious stupidity and the condition the economy has been in since a Degree of Separation from the Real World became a license to steal.

Also, an intelligent person would ask how much someone's income is related to his father's income and realize that is the relevant statistic in this RichKid Reich.

Cognitive dissonance must be at play here. Suddenly you're not siding with the rich? The CEO's who hire their white sons? You do know the people you speak of vote GOP right?

I have in the past admitted college is a joke. But you got to play the game if you want to make it in America. Of course a college degree isn't necessary in America. My immigrant dad didn't even finish high school and he's worth $800K. Of course he'd be worth much more if he would have invested his money properly but he was VERY conservative with his money. Took no chances.

But his generation was told "your kids need to go to college" so my brother and I went. We didn't want to own a Greek restaurant. LOL. Anyways, today I'm mid 50's and will have $1 million before I turn 60. My brother who also went to college for HR ended up becoming the VP of HR for a couple fortune 500 companies. He's worth about $15 million.

So, you idiot, you keep telling yourself college isn't necessary, or a good thing to do. Then have your kids come fix my brothers plumbing in his houses.

Immigrants are stealing your jobs? No they aren't. Their kids are just smarter than your kids.

I never said it was bad to get a college degree, you said it. What I am saying is that unless a kid has enough ambition to overcome an inadequate public education they will end up like little socialist democrats who laugh at words like patriotism and lack the historic perspective to appreciate how the U.S. became the greatest Country in the world.

Bootlickers' Pride

Both Parties are heiristocracies. The HeirHead Harvard Hierarchy swerved from Far Right to Far Left many decades ago, so your Influencers' talking points are long obsolete.

Anyone who "plays the game" will become a Preppy's Ping-Pong Ball, with the IQ to match. The rewards of college aren't worth the soul-killing and unnecessary sacrifice the millionaire businessmen mandate for us. but never ask their sons to live in depressing student poverty and take out heavy student loans. They know perfectly well how humiliating that is, fit only for groveling peasants. Hypocrites must be silenced.

You have a selfish anti-social attitude. The low quality of class-climbing college graduates benefits them alone and not the economy, their underlings, or the consumer. It is not much different from the suc-cesspool of Communist Party members who brought the Soviet Union to its knees.
