Yeah, it does look like Saudi Arabia wants a bloody Sunni/Shiite war. The only question now is, how much will we be involved? How many of our American kids will be sent to die for nothing again?
I would like to think that depends on who we put in the White House next November, but I'm old enough to know better...
Old enough, but too stupid to know better. Just saying!
"Saudi as a regional security leader
"The Northern Thunder military exercise that began on Monday is a show of power designed to pass the message that Saudi Arabia is a regional security provider, leading a Sunni coalition against Daesch.
"This is the largest indigenous army the region has ever seen. How many troops will participate depends on whom you read: 150-350,000 troops could be engaged.
"The gathering of one of the largest Muslim force in history is a significant message for Daesch, but others may interpret the message differently.
"The Sunni common denominator of all the powers invited to participate could also be seen as a message to Assad, to Iran, and, finally, to Russia."
Northern Thunder: Saudi Arabia as a military superpower
Saudi Arabia and Turkey have been vital supporters of ISIS. Saudi Arabia especially, played a key role in its creation. It was created to kill Assad. So what we're seeing now is actually a declaration of war on the Shiites. That's what this is really about.
From a little over one year ago...
"Saudi Arabia, which often confounds outsiders with its slow and opaque governance, has moved surprisingly quickly under
King Salman, its new monarch, to streamline government and purge officials who were seen as underperformers.
"The architect of the government shakeup has been
Mohammed bin Salman, the king’s aggressive, Western-oriented, 34-year-old son, who has taken the positions of defense minister and chief of the royal court.
"He is said to have planned the succession moves carefully in the weeks before the death of King Abdullah on Jan. 23, and executed them quickly to check protests within the royal family."
Any guesses on what changes the next twelve months produce?
