It is committed to armed resistance against Israel and aims for the creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, along the borders before the Six-Day War in June 1967, during which Israel captured and occupied the West Bank, Gaza, the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights.

Changed to:
Hamas does not recognize the existence of Israel and is committed to replacing it through armed struggle with a Palestinian state stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River.
