Far be it from me to defend a commie, but Ho Chi Minh was not a rabid marxist sociopath. If there ever was a "benevolent" leftist dictator, and one that didn't HATE the US, it was Ho Chi Minh. In spite of the war, Vietnamese people to this day do not hold a grudge. They have also reformed their economy so much that it's easier to establish a business there than it is in many American cities. It is still a very authoritarian government, but nothing like any of the few remaining marxist regimes.
