Voters punished Biden for problems he didn't cause and effectively addressed

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump took credit Wednesday for the elimination of Roe v. Wade, embracing his role in selecting the Supreme Court justices who were instrumental in ending the half-century precedent that protected abortion rights nationwide.

“After 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill Roe v. Wade, much to the ‘shock’ of everyone,” Trump, the former president and front-runner for the 2024 Republican nomination, said on his social media platform.

Trump: 'I was able to kill Roe v. Wade'

Are you saying you don't believe and support this? If so, why do you have such an issue with owning and defending it?

‘In what will be a generous gift to his successor, President Joe Biden beat inflation, brought down gas prices, created millions of jobs, spurred strong growth, boosted retirement savings and revived American manufacturing — just in time for Donald Trump to take credit for all of it.

Any objective assessment of Biden’s tenure would show him to have been a highly successful president, especially on economics (even if no president can actually bring down the price of gas all by himself). The fact that he is widely viewed as a failure shows just how warped our political and informational systems are.

In the inevitable circular firing squad Democrats and progressives are now assembling, one of the most prominent criticisms is that the party plays too much to its highly educated base, and if it wants to succeed then it must reconnect with working-class voters. As Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said Wednesday, “It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working-class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.”

Yet, far from “abandoning” working-class people, Biden’s has been the most economically populist presidency in decades, probably since FDR’s. He was the first president to walk a picket line, with striking autoworkers. His labor record has been exemplary: He banned noncompete agreements for most workers, expanded overtime pay and saved the pensions of hundreds of thousands of workers. The Federal Trade Commission is finally attacking monopoly power. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which all but lay fallow under Trump, is protecting consumers again. The bills he signed have begun a manufacturing boom, focused purposefully on jobs that don’t require college degrees.’

President Biden, yet another Democratic president who cleaned up yet another Republican mess.

Trump inherited a strong economy from President Obama – a strong economy Trump managed to run into the ground.

Trump again inherits a strong economy from President Biden – which Trump will likely run into the ground.
All that sounds great, I'm getting a thrill up my leg.

One thing that bothers me is why was it the DNC fat cat donors, along with Pelosi, Obama and others, forced Biden from office, even with all these glowing achievements?

Pretty simple

Biden governed well but he wasn’t up to campaigning

They are two different things

I already noted this but will again.

Democrats ran for years on "making the rich pay their fair share" and did nothing. They did lower the requirements for sites like eBay to send out 1099's from $3000 to $600.

They don't have to be all that intelligent to understand the 1099 they are getting is in no way making the "rich pay their fair share".

No, lowering the requirement for 1099's did not force the wealthy to pay their fair share - that would have taken an act of Congress.

But having working people pay their fair share is also a very good thing.

I agree BUT again, it was the working class that bore the brunt and not the "rich" like the Dem's said they would do for years and did nothing.

He did not beat inflation. Voters are paying 30-50 percent higher in groceries than they did 4 years ago and the average price of gas under Biden is higher than it was under Trump.

Biden hasn't been punished yet, but he should be.

You do not seem to understand the U.S. government works. Tax policy is created in the House of Representatives and has to pass the Senate with a filibuster proof majority. The President has very little to do with tax policy.

I know that every Presidential candidate makes promises that they can't keep unless they have a majority in the house and a super majority in the Senate. The filibuster insures this.

The state of the economy was the #1 factor in the 2024 election, and voters have been feeling the squeeze on their wallets for the past 3 years -- some making decisions to pay for either utilities or for food. Democrats have been focused on the macro metrics, instead of what's actually impacting just common Americans -- and you think the Biden / Harris legacy is a strong economy? Give me a break.

Stop your deflection.

If you want to argue that the Dem's can't raise taxes on the rich, maybe they should quit claiming they will.

I know that every Presidential candidate makes promises that they can't keep unless they have a majority in the house and a super majority in the Senate. The filibuster insures this.

But they somehow got the middle class to pay more.

Budget reconciliation is a special parliamentary procedure of the United States Congress set up to expedite the passage of certain federal budget legislation in the Senate. The procedure overrides the Senate's filibuster rules, which may otherwise require a 60-vote supermajority for passage.

Democracy to Progs is putting Communist shills into office. And then they destroy from within. So now Democracy has elected Trump. And Progs are pissed. We have huge debt expanding and financing. Even when Trump is sworn in. Debts and deficits are up to now slowly destroying the nation. So, Progs take issues and turn them into massive problems that we concentrate on. And abortion is one of them.

If they got the middle class to pay more it was only with the cooperation of the Republicans.

And, yes, I agree that politicians should not make promises that they cannot keep. Both parties do it. That's why they should get rid of the filibuster.

Sorry that you have to report income that you did not have to before, but $20k is far too high not to pay taxes, and $600 will have such low taxes as to be insignificant.

I used to support myself on $4/hr and had to pay taxes, so don't expect me to cry for you.

Trump picked THREE of them specifically because they were anti-abortion

Thank God.

Trump's likely going to get three more picks, too. Sotomayor is probably going to croak, and I think Thomas and Alito will see the light on retiring sometime in the next 2-3 years.

7-2 looks pretty damn good to me!

Never heard of reconciliation?

Condescention, pretension and ignorance is not a good combination.

Biden didn't have any policies that decreased inflation. In fact, he and the democrats increased inflation and the fed had to raise interest rates in order to bring inflation down. We didn't need high interest rates to bring inflation down if democrats hadn't thrown gasoline on the inflation fire.

No, we would have had double digit unemployment instead. That's actually worse.

Oh come on. You know that both Trump and Biden dumped trillions into the economy to keep it functioning.

And the FED does what it is supposed to do albeit slowly
And fixing the supply chain issues went a long ways towards lowering inflation as did the release of oil from the Strategic Reserve
What is Trump going to do regarding inflation? Nothing
