Do you take any for any benefits? I tried taking ginseng for energy and it gives me a stomach ache. I hate Ginseng.

I eat a bowl of viagra cereal every morning. Other than that, I'm not big on supplements.

Special K with dehydrated strawberries?

Actually, I'm big into fitness. The supplement industry really sort of pisses me off. Everything you need should come from your food. The only supplement I take is a cod liver oil/high vitamin butter blend by a company called Green Pastures and I take it for vitamin D. It's much more bio-available to the body than typical vitamin D supplements.

My boyfriend takes that too. I was trying to get more energy and not use coffee. But I tried ginseng and it upsets my stomach too much.

Oh, your man knows what's up then! It's a fairly obscure little company.

Best way to get more energy is to *gasp* (brace yourself....) quit coffee!!! I know, I know.

Also, do you eat any fermented foods? Sauerkraut, kimchee, etc?

Yes, I eat sauerkraut but not regularly. And I'm not giving up coffee at this point unless I find some good energy booster to replace it, I am about to hit finals in school and I can't be tired.

Understand totally. Good luck with your finals!

Here's a few anecdotal things that I've noticed increase my energy in a gradual, natural way:

1. Exercise. By far the best. Exercising on a regular basis actually creates energy. I'm either in the gym or running 6 days a week. 3 days a week is not enough (for me.)
2. Eating small amounts of fermented foods with meals. Have to start slow with this one though. The increased enzyme intake makes digestion a lot easier, which seems to give you more energy.
3. Quitting coffee. Coffee actually doesn't create real energy, it actually drains our energy. But it can take up to 60-90 days to notice the difference as the body adjusts.
4. Increasing vegetables and fruits. I've also noticed a big difference if I increase my broccoli intake.
5. Drinking raw milk. Raw milk has an almost medicinal effect for me. It's crazy.
6. Getting good sleep. Keeping the iphone in another room other than the bedroom is a big one.

The problem with that is, that our food supply does not supply the needed vitamins and minerals for optimum health. This is why we need a high quality multivitamin...and definitely not one sold by some big pharmaceutical company.

One would think our HUGE and omnipresent federal government would protect our food supply, but one would be wrong.
