Video taping the cops triggers a lot of them but it's not unlawful to record them out in public as long as your presence is not interfering with their ability to do their work. They don't generally tackle and dog pile members of a news crew when they're covering a story.

They don't have a lawful right NOT to be recorded but instead of just accepting this fact they oftentimes instigate a confrontation and start harassing the people recording them and then falsely claim that the people they just physically abused were "obstructing".

Thank God for the multiple points of view on video tape secured by the multitude of citizen journalists.
