These recruits going there has no motivation other than surviving either for paycheck or for pardon like these guys.. Ukrainians fight for their country. A human rights group that monitors the treatment of inmates at Russian penitentiaries says hundreds of men at a prison in the North Caucasus region of Adygea have agreed to be sent to fight in Russia’s war against Ukraine as a result of aggressive recruiting.

Recruit criminals to commit war crimes in Ukraine. The exact opposite of building a professional army.

Interesting legal precedent- a private company can go to a Russian prison- not in time of war (it's an SMO)- and no matter what the crime or what the sentence, can offer a convict amnesty to go fight in Ukraine for 6 months. And if the person deserts, no matter what his crime or sentence was, he can be executed on the spot.

That's not rule of law, that's rule of men.
