God forbid they go after Big Medicine, or any of the big money fraud being perpetrated by the wealthy. Rick Scott, who perpetrated the biggest fraud in Medicare/Medicaid history, and whose company paid $1.7 billion in fines and restitution, is now in charge of Medicare/Medicaid.

As has been proven over and over again in multiple investigations of welfare fraud, fraud by poor people is rare and limited. Think of the millions spent on drug testing welfare recipients.

Republicans spend more money on fraud prevention than they do on programs to help poor people, adding to the costs of these programs, and reducing their intended impact.

The OBM has indicated the Payroll Protection Plan during the covid pandemic during Trump's first term, has suffered massive fraud and misuse, none of which has ever been investigated or prosecuted. Trump's White House has never provided any accounting of the funds or what happened to them.
Numerous federal agencies were investigating Elon Musk and his corporations misuse of public funds when Trump was re-elected. DOGE fired all of the people running the agencies investigating Musk, and voila! the investigations went away.

The Sacklers owned Purdue Pharma, manufacturers of Oxycontin, and they pursued an aggressive marketing campaign which addicted millions of Americans on their drugs. They were protected during Trump's first administration, and shielded from loss of their billions, as a result.

Privatizing the VA would give incentive to the agencies cutting veterans off of benefits to increase their profits.

Ontario privatized a service which helped disabled people to find jobs. The new agency, paid bonuses for every person the counsellors placed in a job and were now receiving wages instead of benefits. This lead to staffers pushing people into jobs they could not do, and when the jobs didn't work out, the person was left with no income and no disability pension.

It takes about 2 years and a lot of jumping through hoops to get a disability pension in Canada. Once they took the jobs they were being forced into, they had to start all over again, as if they had never been classified as "disabled", when they lost the job.

The contract was cancelled and the government is back running the program.

If the VA was doing its job and properly funded in the first place, there would be no need for "charities" to take up the slack. "Wounded Warriors" commercials are heartbreaking. Why isn't the government properly providing for the lives they destroyed.
