But is there a new variant out of Israel? Most of the new variants seem to originate in rural third world areas--India, Peru, South Africa--and orginated prior to the vaccines.

It's been proven that "aggressive" strains find ways to mutate.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if COVID was genetically engineered as a "super aggressive" strain to mutate with every type of vax there is.

Aggressive strains will either mutate themselves out of existence, or they will become specific to inhabit only certain types of populations.....like the Bubonic Plague. And yes, the Bubonic Plague is still active in some parts of the world, but it's settled into populations that are pretty much unsanitary, where the animals breed in filth and disease. Said animals pass the disease onto humans.

The difference being, humans have had many, many decades to study the Bubonic Plague and it's siblings, and finally test out cures so they don't contaminate the subject or kill them.
