On 29 September, UK Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, repeated that the standard VAT rate will not rise in line with the election manifesto promise. But the Chancellor may opt at the 26 November 2025 budget to raise much-needed funding by changes to the nil-rating and reduced 5% rates.

The prediction I've heard from various sources is, Labour are gonna increase VAT (sales tax) to 25%. What a shit show.

You in the US have State tax per state. The UK has a blanket sales tax called VAT (value added tax). Some products/services are 0%, some like energy is 5%, and the bulk 20%.

I don't know what they will do and you don't, i have never seen such a load of nonsense about a Budget that has not even happened, they are saying Reeves has done a u turn on tax, how can you u turn on something that has not happened? most of this bullshit is generated by the Daily mail and SKY news and Farage/ GB News, what i do know is Thatcher almost doubled VAT from 8% to 15% i know because i was self employed at the time that cow almost put me out of business because i had just started up.
