Non-nuke....USA by a mile.

Nuke- Russia is in a more (kinda) survivable position due to civilian shelter space and preparedness.....But it's Russia so anything worth anything in the shelters has long been looted.

That said neither country would worth living in afterwards.

The United States is considered to possess the most lethal military operations in the world, driven by advanced technology, precision strike capabilities, and joint-force integration. Russia also demonstrates high operational lethality, especially in massed artillery, tactical missile usage, and asymmetric warfare, although its methods more often rely on volume and saturation rather than precision.1tak+2

United States Lethality of Operations

  • U.S. military operations are defined by the use of advanced stealth aircraft, drones, and precision-guided munitions that maximize combat effectiveness while minimizing collateral damage.globalfirepower+1
  • Special operations forces leverage real-time intelligence, cyber operations, and joint force learning to achieve mission objectives quickly and with minimal losses.ndupress.ndu
  • The U.S. military maintains global reach, allowing rapid deployment and high-impact strikes virtually anywhere in the world, enhancing the lethality and effectiveness of its military force.1tak+1
  • Technological superiority in electronic warfare, cyber, and space domains further increases operational lethality, making U.S. operations highly decisive and often limiting adversary responses.ndupress.ndu+1

Russia Lethality of Operations

  • Russia's operational lethality relies on massed fires by artillery and missile forces, heavy armor, and strategic nuclear deterrence.globalfirepower+1
  • Russian actions in Ukraine demonstrate an approach that emphasizes high-volume bombardments and area saturation, often leading to significant destruction but also higher civilian casualties and infrastructure loss.news.usni+1
  • Russia invests in nuclear and hypersonic capabilities to ensure strategic deterrence and project power at scale, but often lacks the precision and joint integration found in U.S. operations.1tak+1
  • Russian special forces and cyber warfare units have shown increasing effectiveness in asymmetric scenarios, though overall operational lethality is more concentrated regionally.understandingwar

The United States is widely recognized as the world's strongest military power in 2025, with unmatched capabilities in defense spending, technology, global reach, and operational readiness compared to Russia and other nations. In terms of nuclear weapons, Russia holds the largest arsenal by raw numbers, though both countries maintain comparable levels of deployed strategic warheads.interestingengineering+5youtube+1

United States Military Might

The United States leads the globe with a defense budget of nearly $900 billion and a personnel strength exceeding 2.1 million. Its power derives from:youtube+1interestingengineering
  • 11 nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and the world's largest fleet of stealth aircraft.interestingengineering
  • Over 750 overseas military bases, ensuring unmatched capability to project force worldwide.globalfirepower+1

Russia Military Capabilities

Russia remains a formidable military power with a focus on large ground forces, advanced missile systems, and a strong tradition in air defense. Russia's capabilities include:armscontrol+1
  • Highly developed nuclear and conventional missile systems and robust air defenses.armscontrol
  • The largest number of operational nuclear warheads globally, bolstering its strategic deterrence.visualcapitalist+1
  • Trails the U.S. in global reach, carrier operations, and advanced military technologies.interestingengineeringyoutube
While Russia invests heavily in strategic modernization, especially its nuclear force, its defense budget is significantly lower and its ability to project power internationally is much more limited than the United States.interestingengineeringyoutube

Nuclear Weapons: Raw Numbers

  • Russia: Leads the world with an estimated total inventory of around 4,309 to 5,580 nuclear warheads, of which approximately 4,380 are operational.sandboxx+2
  • United States: Possesses about 3,700 to 5,044 warheads, with around 1,770 actively deployed and roughly 1,938 in reserve.as+3
  • Both nations have reduced their totals since the Cold War but still account for roughly 80–90% of the world's nuclear stockpiles.statista+1

Russia holds the edge in total warhead numbers, but the United States has a higher number of active, deployed nuclear weapons ready for immediate use. Both nations maintain the world's largest and most advanced nuclear arsenals.sandboxx+1

Summary

The United States remains the world's premier military power, excelling in advanced technologies, global force projection, and defense expenditures. Russia, while trailing in most conventional military metrics, maintains the largest overall stockpile of nuclear warheads, supporting its status as a global strategic power.visualcapitalist+6youtube

None would win. Nuclear weapons threat is the reason.

Funny how nobody talked about a war with Russia during the administration of a mentally impaired president. Nobody wins a nuclear war.

A U.S. spy would be shot for divulging that kind of information in WW1 or 2 but it looks like there are no military secrets left.

The American army and volunteers intervene if the four or five countries that may threaten the USA with volunteers. Today's troops mean that the USA can just win on home ground and encounters well-armed countries active American invasions proceed slowly.

US win easy , We ´d liberate the world from predatory imperialistic Bolshevism in 1945, as General Patton wanted

The USA has the world's greatest air force. 🪖👍

Mostly depends on your definition of the term "victory".

So of course, neither the USA and Russia would conquer in a nuclear war against each other. Against the rest of the world, both would conquer in a war with weapons of mass destruction. So of course, I am right about treacherous war?

As I said - it all depends on the definitions. Like it was, say, in Red Dawn movie. If Russian counter-force strike was good enough (and had eliminated most of US nukes), and they still need other nukes to deter rest of the world, and they have some allies for the massive land invasion (Latin America in the movie) they could choose land invasion and occupation of the USA. Or, as it was in Terminator movie, after successful counter-force and counter-value strike, Russia and China may decide to mop up the land with robots.

It depends.

Difficult to tell really. If you asked "who'd win in a war between the US in the 1970s or Vietnam in the 1970s?" you'd say "The USA for sure, can't lose".
