US sports, the new normal?

I haven’t been to the new state liquor outlet on the city line yet, so I probably do not think like most of you. But I have been thinking. I just watched a very boring football game on Netflix. I have Netflix because my wife pays for it. Have you noticed that even though you paid for the service you are still watching commercials? A lot of those commercials are made up of millionaire athletes making fools of themselves for big money. It’s all about the dollar you know. My wife also pays for Prime so I can watch other games. Lucky me. But I have been thinking more broadly than just that.

Seventy-six percent of the US population is Caucasian but only twenty-seven percent of the players in the NFL are white. In basketball it’s even worse. Only seventeen percent of the players in the NBA are white. Baseball fares a little better with nearly sixty percent whites and even that statistic appears to be vanishing. You can hit a button on your TV remote to get Spanish.

Is this an emergency? I mean did white men in America forget how to play sports? Again it’s even worse because about ninety percent of NFL tailgate parties are made up of fat, alcoholic, impotent white men. Is this the new normal?

KC just beat Pittsburg who's on a losing streak playing elite teams! They've gone down to Philly, Baltimore, now KC! They'll still compete in the playoffs, but on shaky ground!

What is seldom mentioned is that it is overwhelmingly WHITE MEN who directly and indirectly pay the salaries and other compensation of the majority-Black sports athletes, both professional and college. I thought we were all racists.

The only conspicuous racial element in this scenario is the out-sized attention that White players get when they break into these overwhelmingly Black institutions...Caitlin Clark, Jokic and the other Europeans in the NBA, and the couple of outstanding White QB's in the NFL.

But whether Leftists like it or not, one of the main attractions in sports is that it is merit-based. You play if you are good enough, and if you are not, you don't play. The only formal DEI in sports that I know of is the infamous "Rooney Rule," whereby NFL teams have agreed at least to consider one Black guy when looking for a new head coach.

That's been the case for yrs. & was a crisis decades ago! Even though there's potential in making big bucks in baseball, the "lion share" of the pot/ad $$'s still go to the elite players! "Also-rans" in other sports can make millions so why use ttheir abilities in such a boring sport, most of the time standing around scratching their nutz?
