US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy and Human Rights, Steven Feldstein will begin talks and meetings with a number of officials in the country today.
The official spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yousif Al-Kordofani said that the US official meetings include undersecretaries of foreign and justice ministries, Human Rights Rapporteur, and NEC Chief.
The US official will also meet on Monday, with the head of the Press Council, Ali Shumo and the Secretary General of the Political Parties Council, Mohammed Adam Ismail.
The visit program includes the states of Blue Nile and Darfur.
Al-Kordofani said that the visit comes within the framework of the keenness of Sudan to an ongoing dialogue with the United States and to get information from real sources.
He reiterated Sudan welcome to this visit.
He said that the US official's visit to the country comes in the wake of the visit of Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour and Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti to America recently in response to an official invitation from the US administration and the US Congress.

I see from recent news that the U.S. has lifted some of the sanctions against Sudan. Speaking of sanctions, In an interview of President al-Bashir he said that sanctions had the benefit that because the American oil company had to leave a Chinese oil company came in who gave the Sudanese a much better agreement. China now has national interests in the Sudan. Who could have possibly foreseen that?

Steven Feldstein is a mid-level CIA person, in an alias organization of course. Hardly what Sudan needs.
