BREAKING NEWS! Universal Background Checks have now been officially enjoined! The order drafted by our attorneys has been signed by Circuit Court Judge Yates.

It is now legal for private gun sales to proceed without needing to get a background check done by a dealer, just as it was before July 1, 2020!

The rule then (as it is come midnight) is that you don't knowingly sell a gun to a prohibited person.....How you come to that conclusion is up to you.

Every FFL has to have a purchaser fill out a 4473 by federal law. All guns sold in such a way have a paper trail.

Likely most guns sold by a private sale also have that same paper trail as far as the last owner that filled out the 4473 but there the trail ends.

How does that prove you gave your rifle to one of your adult children after the UBC requirement was in place?
What if you have a gun you did not buy from a FFL with no paper trail leading to you? Same question.
