Well, I'm not against immigration in general but this does seem very unfair to immigrants from other countries who would wish to come here. DO people from Latin America get to come here simply because they are closer geographically?
Even if we took 1 million, that would be too much. If we would allow 7 million from Mexico/ central America then we also need to allow 7 million from every other country in the world. Of course it wouldn't be sustainable , but this shows an unfair bias.
As far as our dear leaders are concerned I think its more the path of least resistance for them, and they don't really have a clue or a plan other than making special interest groups happy with them.
NO, this will Not unite Americans. Its true people from Latin America are escaping a bad situation.. but in comparrisson to life in the U.S. that could be said of a billion people all around the world who one way or another could be considered to be in refugee status. We cant take them all nor should we. nations do need to eventually solve their own problems and sending their people away is not a solution. Though it is a good way to send money back to their country via Western Union/Money Gram
Truth is , we have not solved our own inner city problems. Schools completely failing our own poor families and those kids will have little hope for good fulfilling career paths, being continuously sucked into poverty, crime and drugs. I don't remember Biden mentioning much of this during the campaign... maybe he did, but how do we expect to address the needs of our own poor and disadvantaged? it takes time and effort. These American lives continue to get pushed back and forgotten for people who while they are needy, did not vote in an American election for representation.
No, these policies will only divide America, if not directly then further down the road due to the effects
