US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has called the issue of mobilization in Ukraine critical and urged Kiev to make “difficult but necessary decisions” in this area. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
According to him, mobilization for Ukraine is very important, because even with the necessary funding and weapons there must be people at the front.
“Ukraine needs to make a difficult decision on further mobilization, but it is a necessary decision”, - said Blinken.
Prior to that, the administration of US President Joe Biden suggested that Ukraine lower the minimum age of mobilization from 25 to 18 years old in order to rapidly increase the size of the army. After that, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said that the mobilization of citizens from 18 years old in Ukraine is inappropriate against the background of a shortage of weapons in the AFU.
On May 18, 2024, the law on toughening mobilization in Ukraine came into force. According to the innovations, persons included in the register of persons liable for military duty will lose the right to travel abroad, to use their money, to drive a car, to carry out real estate transactions and to draw up documents - passport and foreign passport.
Earlier, the NATO secretary-general wanted to make sure whether there were people left in Ukraine for mobilization.
