They were financed by a consortium of companies from Russia, Germany, France, Austria and the Netherlands. It was the first pipeline that bypassed Ukraine and Poland to deliver Russian natural gas directly to West Europe.

Nord Stream 2 AG was the owner of NS2, which was an addition to NS1 which also bypassed Poland and Ukraine. The ruling of the Bundesnetzagentur is certainly far fetched and purely political, though.

A Ukrainian citizen is suspected of blowing up a Russian gas pipeline along the bottom of the Baltic Sea in the fall of 2022.

On Wednesday, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Die Zeit and the ARD television channel published a joint investigation, citing anonymous sources, which reported that a Ukrainian diving instructor living in Poland is suspected of participating in the Nord Stream bombing.

Poland officially confirmed that it had received a European arrest warrant from Germany in June. Polish law enforcement agencies did not find him at the address he had given, and in early July the man left Poland for Ukraine, said Anna Adamiak, press secretary for the prosecutor's office.
