Flaming SUV rams U.K. airport; 2 arrests

By IAN STEWART, Associated Press Writer 12 minutes ago

GLASGOW, Scotland - Two men rammed a flaming Jeep Cherokee into the main terminal of Glasgow airport Saturday, crashing into the glass doors at the entrance in what appeared to be the third attempted terror attack on Britain in two days, witnesses said.

Britain raised its security alert to "critical" — the highest level possible and an indication that terrorist attacks are imminent. U.S. airports increased safety precautions.

What a couple of morons....this has to be the most inept terrorist attack in modern history. A couple of knuckleheads light themselves on fire in the car, before crashing it. Then one guy gets out, dumps a can of gasoline on himself, and light himself on fire. LOL. What hacks!

Had you been in the airport, and the car penetrated further into the building, you would not inappropriately "LOL."

Keith Olbermann: Terrorism Expert
Posted by Ken Shepherd on June 30, 2007 - 21:12.
Keith Olbermann, the same guy that pooh-poohed the seriousness of the terror plot of the so-called Fort Dix Six, hinted on his "The News Hole" blog last night that he had a similarly dismissive attitude about the London bomb attempts of June 29.

[Olbermann covered the story on his program, but I have not had a chance to review the tape]

Here's the pearl of moonbattery from Olbermann's blog last night (portion in bold my emphasis):

Picadilly Bomb Scare: The London bomb scare. The intent was clearly the real thing. But what these people put together and left parked, and, authorities say, twice failed to "go off"...Did it even constitute a bomb or would it have been at worst, a car fire?
The former State Department deputy head of counter-terrorism has his doubts...

In light of today's Glasgow Airport car bomb attempt and the arrests that have been made in what may be a wider terror conspiracy, hopefully Olbie's smarmy, dismissive attitude about plots of terrorist violence is wearing rather thin.

Indeed, we really shouldn't let fear rule our lives. But that's the card the Bush administration has been playing since 9/11 and the Republican presidential candidates have taken up with a vengeance.

Be vigilant, be aware of what's going on around you, but be constantly fearful? You may as well lay down and die. But that fear is what the GOP has relied, and is relying, upon to maintain their grip on power. They are playing up that fear in order to nudge us into surrendering our liberties in return for a small measure of security. If we do so, we deserve neither liberty nor security.

Since you obviously don't get out much, you can cower in fear all you like, it won't make much difference to your quality of life. Dismissed.

Libs keep dismissing the terrorist threat - as they push for surrender in Iraq

When we get hit again - libs will the first ones screaming why the public was not told about the warnings, why the threat level was not raised, and why did the government fail to protect them

Simply not true.

Dismissive? Only of you.

The terrorist threat is real, but that is no reason to adopt a bunker mentality as you and so many of your fellow travelers have. The 'war on terror', as pursued by the Bush administration, has been more about securing power in the hands of the executive branch than actually securing our borders. The invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with protecting America from terrorists and their depredations and everything to do with US hegemony in the region.

As has been shown in the past, solid intelligence gathering and analysis (<i>sans political agendas</i>), good police work and citizen awareness have done more to combat terrorism than the weight of military might. They are, so to speak, the scalpels required to cut out the cancer of terrorism. The hammer of military force does nothing but force it to spread, unseen, to other parts of the world until it is revealed in a terrorist attack.

Your assertion that liberals discount the threat of terrorism is as baseless as any of your other accusations and rooted in the ignorance and fear this administration has sought to infect the population of this country with. Your infection is fulminant.

They were trying to enter the doors to main terminal, but 'obstacles' were in the way, so they were entering, backing up, trying again, backing up. I'd assume at some point they were trying to detonate. One had a suicide vest on from reports.

Now what would those 'obstacles' be? Probably the planters/cement barriers/garbage bins that have been placed before what could be anticipated targets. Who put them there? The government. So though operational, the attacks so far have failed.

I've noticed that even at the Targets, some churches these types of barriers have been erected. Maybe security has been preventing attacks?

Clinton tried to treat terrorism as a crime instead of an act of war - and we got 9-11
