While the U.S. for the last couple of decades has been going around the world kicking dirt poor farmer's doors down looking for terrorists.
China has been going to 3rd world countries and building hospitals, schools, and roads, and in appreciation they are rewarded with lucrative long term mining and natural resources contracts.

They are rapidly becoming hated in those countries.

The Ugandan government should be hiring the services of Mr. T to promote the wearing of multiple gold chains, and getting new gold teeth, to help gin up demand in the product.
