Typical fucking hypocrisy of the class warfare crowd. It's only wrong for other people to have money.

‘If UC Berkeley economists are really opposed to income inequality and are concerned about low-paid workers, they might consider sharing some of their compensation with the teaching assistants, graders, readers and administrative staff at the bottom of Cal’s income distribution’

These income inequality arguments are really just anti-capitalist arguments designed to shut down the capitalist system. I suggested that businesses of all types should pay no taxes whatsoever. The left shouldn't mind because rich basketball players, movie stars, tv pesonalities, etc, etc will still be paying more than the blue collar worker who is on the assembly line somewhere. The left should be happy because they believe in 'fair share' and all that but the minute you suggest businesses shouldn't be taxed they go berserk. They won't tolerate that part of it even though a vast majority will still be on the progressive income tax.

The left's capacity for hypocrisy is stunning but universities are free to pay their idiot savants whatever the market will bear. The problem comes when taxpayer funds are used to reinforce the hypocrisy.

Of course they do........and one of the great warriors in feathers, for income inequality, elizabeth warren......used fake racial identity to steal a job from an actual minority....and used that theft to make hundreds of thousands of dollars.....and to bitch about income inequality....

You HAVE to pay these "intellectuals" after all - it's THEIR opinion and ONLY their opinion that counts, remember? :)

We'd be lost as a country without their esteemed "opinions".

Not long ago I heard a reasonable argument about the alleged hypocrisy of wealthy people who advocate for better income equality. The long and short of it was to suggest that such people driven less by a personal tendency toward hypocrisy and more by fear of losing one's financial security, resulting in a "you first" mentality. In a world of significant income and wealth inequality, and where there is little collective will to reverse such, it is inherently more risky to turn down whatever economic resources are available to you. Therefore, such individuals will tend to continue exhibit a high personal greed drive, despite sincerely held beliefs.

The reason it struck a chord with me is because it would mean that people on both the liberal and conservative side are driven by the same base instinct when reaching opposing conclusions. It also underscores the fact that there will never really be a solution to income inequality that doesn't arise naturally within society. No matter how many rules government might make to try influencing the matter, individuals will continue to make personal decisions based on maximizing their survival and well being in the current environment.

They long for the days of Royalty.....and will do whatever they have to to return us to those days....

UC Berkeley is a public university so it is a recipient of tax dollars.

Yeah...but...but....but....you see....it's ok....because....they have to educate everyone about how bad income inequality is first....so they have no choice but to accept that unfair salary for the greater purpose of educating people.....and I'm sure they're donating 250k of that 300k to the Poor Student Coalition to ensure they are staying true to their beliefs.

This is So Typical. Those who promote Do Gooder Social Engineering Programs are the ones who profit instead of those whom they are using to justify the program.

Along the same vein, San Francisco spends ove4 $240M per year on homeless programs, and homelessness just keeps getting worse.

SF's homeless problem: A civic disgrace

I long for the old days before income inequality was a phrase that was used all the time to beat the shit out of people who have been extremely successful in their lives. Tired of the class warfare bullshit.
