Martin is looking at a big jump in costs to renew TNT’s contract to air basketball games on TNT and TBS, with the league said to be seeking to double its fees.
Turner is seeking to renew the last major US sports deal up for grabs until 2021. Live sporting events like the NBA are critical to boosting the fees cable providers pay to carry the networks.
Meanwhile, TBS and TNT — which adopted the new tagline “TNT Drama. Boom” in the spring — have been struggling for a fresh crop of hits.
Martin, along with Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes, have promised to add more original programs in a bid to lift cable sales, which are lagging rivals
Why don't they tell the league to get bent for a season?
Bottom line is CNN/MSNBC/ABC/CBS are all Left leaning outlets. Those who watch TV have grown up and are now understanding they have been fed a bill of LIB biased goods.
The result is the LIB leaning outlets are going down the crapper.
A perfect example is what MSNBC airs on the weekends: ******* 'jail' shows all the time. But why? B/c MSNBC's viewer base are predominantly Blacks.
Blacks can tune in and watch any number of their sons/fathers/brothers/cousins/uncles/former neighbors waddling around the exercise yards in prisons all over the country.
Black's don't attract any sponsor money to MSNBC except fast food outlets/payday loans/'adult' chat or diabetes medicine companies.....and Viagra.
