The sedition charges covered the insurrection and MORE, with heavier penalties...so they chose seditious conspiracy as the charge to cover both...
Oh, and on the Insurrection impeachment, the clear majority of senators found him guilty, 57 to 43.....not enough to remove him, but he was already gone so....Rs like McConnell and others, said he was guilty but did not go on to convict him, because he was already out of office, when the impeachment took place. More Senators from his own party, voted to impeach him, than any other president, impeached....for insurrection.

voted Saturday to acquit him anyway of inciting an insurrection.
McConnell sharply criticized his former ally in a speech on the Senate floor shortly after
Trump was cleared in a 57-43 vote, saying the rioters had been “fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on Earth. Because he was angry he’d lost an election.”
“Former President Trump’s actions that preceded the riot were a disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of duty,” added McConnell. “Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.”
