Carrier made the right decision. Carrier is already one of the most expensive lines in the air conditioning arena. There are many brands which are less expensive. Had they followed through with moving all their manufacturing to Mexico, they would have lost the proposed corporate tax cuts as well as face a $35.00 tariff on their products sold in the US. While they may have saved on labor costs, they may have still faced having to charge even more to compete with the other manufacturers in the US. They would probably have seen a reduction in market share. I do not believe folks would pay more to have a Carrier system in their homes than to have a Rheem, Gibson, or some other brand which serves the same purpose and is just as efficient.
