I'm pondering which promises made by Trump are likely to be honored or pursued and which were simply pre-election rhetoric. Now that he's been elected he can do what suits him and has no obligation to honor his voters, he lies to everyone even them but they're too dimwitted to admit it.

1. Mass deportations
Personally I don't see him doing this, he will likely make some announcement and waffle about this but the scale of the project and his lack of leadership skills mean this is likely a pipe-dream for the MAGATS. The cost is off the scales, the logistics is huge, the removal of low wage workers will impact thousands of business and either cause job losses, price increases or both, consider the farm workers for example.

I cannot think of even one reason why Trump would put any effort into this, for him it's irrelevant now that he's elected, like the wall before it and Mexico paying for it, this is all hot air and bluster.

2. Abortion
Likewise, I don't see any reason for him to spend any time or resources on this, it is what it is and he likely doesn't give a shit. He's already made his mark here, his name is forever tied to overturning Rowe v Wade and that's all he cares about.

3. Tax
Yes, he will likely make some decisions here but no idea what, he'll do something that he feels proves his value, boosts his ego, the effort to is minimal, just sign a few documents and back to the golf course.

4. Tariffs
Yes, again he craves attention and praise and like Tax all he has to do is sign a letter or two and it's done.

5. Revenge
Yes, this might be where he really spends most of his time, he's great at hating people and great at destroying things that work (as he did with the pandemic master plan during Covid). So I expect him to really devote energy here, nullifying all the cases against him, refusing to pay any fines or damages to people and be utterly unaccountable. He will likely honor the promise to pardon the hundreds of insurrectionists again because it's easy, just sign a few forms and back to the golf.

The question MAGATS need to ask is, what does Trump really care about? and at 78 he is likely going to pursues personal goals and not put effort into hard problems, if it can be done with a signature he'll do it, if it requires thinking, planning, organizing and motivating people he just won't do it because he can't do that very well.

Nahhh, he won't spend most of his time, as you are stating. I will agree that he will do that. He will mainly focus on the issues he said he wanted to get done before he leaves Office in 2029.

As for the Mass Deportation, he won't do it in one clip. He will gradually get rid of them. There will be some leftover by the end of his term. But that is because, there are so many illegals who are hiding from him. It's impossible to get each one of them in just one batch.

Abortion, he knows what he has to do...when he will do it, I give him 6 months. Perhaps, by Summer 2025 we will hear something about it.

Why will he do anything about abortion? what's in it for him? recall - there's no second term to worry about now, he's president and can do anything he wants to do, there's very little that he has to do.

He is definitely going to engage in mass deportation. How the logistics work will be interesting but there will be hundreds or thousands, perhaps millions of military aged men who are in the U.S illegally who will not be there by the end of his term.

He will also work on the Remain in Mexico being reinstated and perhaps finishing areas of the wall.

He will definitely decrease taxes to the maximum which can safely be done. This will be matched with a decrease in bloated agency spending and the expansion of D.C.

He will apply tariffs. Canada in particular will have to lobby him about our agreement. As I said, I would be even be willing to speak to the U.S as I understand Americans better than 99.8% of Canadians and many of our foreign delegates. It isn't a difficult argument to make. China will definitely be paying tariffs and it will be even more than they expect if they don't agree to an agreement to purchase American goods. He will demand this early.

Abortion is out of his mind. It is with the states and that is what he will advise. Let citizens vote on propositions within their state each election to determine these limits.

Revenge is a misnomer in terms in this instance. I think the better word would be "accountability for any abuse". You wouldn't be America if you didn't support accountable for abuses and injustices would you?

So if you're a MAGAT dreaming of your favorite Trump promise, it likely ain't gonna happen.

I am not counting on one thing from him in terms of his doing anything for me.

I am counting on him to keep the government from doing anything to me.

Why? why would he spend much energy? nobody's gonna fire him if he doesn't.

Yes Hitler held many "accountable for their abuses" too in 1934 - of course we all know it wasn't that at all.

So you're an anarchist what's new.

The Abortion issue is a hot button. He is going to deal with it head-on. I don't know exactly what he will do at this point. But it needs to be dealt with.

Where do you get off telling people what they "need" to do.

You just lost your ass.

Trump doesn't care about a lot of things. So what ?
I believe he was getting off here at USMB, rendering opinion, as we get a lot of that here. Whether accurate and to what degree remains to be seen, but based on past, there is a logic to what he said.

He is going to do so because he was given a mandate to do so.

The will of the people, Trump is just the Messenger. He listens and the voters let him hear.

He isn't going to hurt his legacy by governing like Mike Pence would.

Mass deportations
The cost of keeping and supporting them is greater than the cost of deporting them. Didn't you think the cost of bringing them in was off the charts? How about the crime, housing, administration, flights, bus rides etc. Didn't you have a problem with those costs?
This is democrat bluster. The SCOTUS correctly ruled that it is a states rights issue, but the democrats want to dictate their wishes to the entire nation. Trump had nothing to do with it. Read the constitution.
He'll just reinstate his tax cuts that are expiring. No change.
This issue will continue to be tweaked--just as Biden did when he expanded the Trump tariffs.
He has never taken revenge. As six of the last eight years have demonstrated, blind revenge is a democrat thing. As for the scam indictments and court cases--none had any basis in law and will rightfully be dismissed.
I know you're butt hurt, but keep your chin up. Happy days are here again.

I don't tell people what they need to do.
It's a common figure of speech, but if you want to take it personally go right ahead.
In your case, I'll make an exception.

What you believe is of little to no value to me.

A new report from the American Immigration Council, an immigration rights research and policy firm, estimates that to deport even one million undocumented immigrants a year would cost over $88 billion dollars annually, for a total of $967.9 billion over more than ten years.
