Indians were referred to as "redskins" for about 150 years of media and 80 years of Hollywood films and westerns, and no one ever expressed any problem with the descriptor until a few years ago with a football team?
I had an uncle who was part Indian--- not once in 40 years did he ever tell me how incensed he was over the moniker, I mean, the injuns really actually had RED SKIN.

There is a single A baseball team in Spokane called the Indians, the Spokane tribe has had their language carried on by the baseball team, in fact the Spokane tribe is very proud to have the ball club named after them.
There were those morons that wanted to change the name and the tribe asked the owners Bobby and George Brett to keep the name. It has been a great partnership, even the local WHL hockey team, owned by the same brothers is nicknamed the Chiefs.
It’s a shame that the racists progressive are trying to take heritage away.

It’s more significant than you think.
The Indian name-change agenda is just democrat Marxist fascism doing more foundational culture erosion. All to more successfully implement Marxism in the US.
To have a president challenge that is a big step forward.
What’s more, DC belongs to the federal government in spite of the quasi-home-rule, pseudo-government that democrats installed in order to gain more control. The president represents one third of the federal government so it’s a very legit issue for that reason.
Personally, I don’t watch NFL and hardly any high-profile sports anymore because they’ve all been dumbed-down to accommodate a common pro-wrestling-level, low-IQ culture.

“I may put a restriction on them that if they don’t change the name back to the original ‘Washington Redskins,’ and get rid of the ridiculous moniker, ‘Washington Commanders,’ I won’t make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington. The Team would be much more valuable, and the Deal would be more exciting for everyone,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Yeah, maybe a bit of overreach on Trump's part but I sure like the idea.
Godspeed, it would be be a major coup for Skins fans.

I think the name is offensive - they shouldn't bring it back.
But they should have changed it to something that speaks to the legacy of the 'Skins. Like, the Washington Warriors or something like that.
The Washington Football Team and then the Commanders...was lame.
Made worse by the fact that the whole reason then-owner Dan Snyder changed the name was to get the league off his ass.

"The League" did not have any problem with that because they were a winning team. In fact they had been in the AFC championship in 2019, won a SB in 2020, and were in the SB again in 2021. Winning makes all the difference I guess.
It was all PC BS and it needs correcting.

Redskin is an offensive term. It has been used derisively to refer to Native Americans.
The San Francisco Chinks.
The Los Angeles Wetbacks.
The New York Kikes.
The Atlanta Rednecks.
The Chicago Guineas (or Micks).
The Seattle Japs.
The Houston Gooks.
None of that would fly and you know it.

No. I was a little sad about it, but I can see how many Native Americans would be offended by that name. I just wish the team had come up with a better, more original name than "Commanders". How boring.
I always loved the helmet logo. It was one reason I picked them as my team growing up.
