Funny, thought China didn't control the Panama Canal operations. Another case of Trump being correct. Strategic move.

CK Hutchison Holdings Ltd., the Hong Kong-based conglomerate, agreed to sell control of a unit that operates ports near the Panama Canal after pressure from US President Donald Trump to limit Chinese interests in the region.

Making America Great Greatest Again, one day at a time.

Yeah but we still need to get the Chinese out of Panama, from both ends

We need the Chinese to stop lying ... and cheating ... and that starts with transparency ... and the military strength to insure China lives up to her agreements ... [ka'ching] ... we can make those weapons right here in the United States ... family wage jobs here at home ...

True. Then I'd look at Greenland and even Cuba. (not Canada nor Gaza)

This is like his peace deal between nations not at war with each other :auiqs.jpg:

CK Hutchison Holdings Ltd., the Hong Kong-based conglomerate, agreed to sell control of a unit that operates ports near the Panama Canal after pressure from US President Donald Trump to limit Chinese interests in the region.

A consortium including BlackRock Inc., Global Infrastructure Partners, and Terminal Investment Ltd. reached a deal in principle to acquire units that hold 80 per cent of the Hutchison Ports group, which operates 43 ports in 23 countries. The consortium will also acquire 90% of Panama Ports Co., which operates the two ports in Balboa and Cristobal. The transactions will deliver cash proceeds of $19 billion to CK Hutchison, the company said Tuesday in a statement.

Trump has said he wants the US to regain control of the Panama Canal, which was handed over to the local government in 1999, arguing without evidence that China has taken over the waterway. Panama’s government had been weighing whether to cancel its contract with CK Hutchison to operate the ports, Bloomberg reported last month.

Hutchison has run the ports in Panama’s Balboa and Cristobal under a concession that was first signed in 1997 and, in 2021, extended until 2047.

Panama will not giving control of the canal to the US or anybody else. Panama is in control and has been. China has not been in control of the Panama Canal. :auiqs.jpg:Some people...

never underestimate stupid people lagre groups.webp

Canada and Gaza are really high on my list ... it's upsetting that folk in Vancouver, American Columbia, boo our national anthem ... the gall ... and don't get me started on taking back OUR side of the St Lawrence ...

Gaza is a great idea ... give the Palistinians US citizenship and let them come over ... or just flood Gaza with guns ... strap a Glock on every Arab woman ... have them control their men-folk ...

Should we pay off Panama's debt before China does? ...

Just operating both ends. Trump ended that.

Should we pay off Panama's debt before China does? ...
Why not. Trump is the King of Debt

I’m the king of debt. I’m great with debt. Nobody knows debt better than me,” Trump told Norah O’Donnell in an interview that aired on “CBS This Morning.” “I’ve made a fortune by using debt, and if things don’t work out I renegotiate the debt. I mean, that’s a smart thing, not a stupid thing.”

“How do you renegotiate the debt?” O’Donnell followed up.

You go back and you say, hey guess what, the economy crashed,” Trump replied. “I’m going to give you back half.”

CK Hutchison Holdings Limited is not the Chinese government. It is a multinational corporation based in Hong Kong.
And a member of the CCP.

Victor Li Tzar-kuoi, the son of CK Hutchison's founder Li Ka-shing, is a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He is also a board member and co-managing director of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited.

If CCP tells you to shut down the canal, you do it.

Is that anything like DOGE?

They are a corporate entity a mega one.

Yeah but we still need to get the Chinese out of Panama, from both ends
To Each Power Its Local Sphere of Influence

And China needs to get us out of the Pacific Rim. Their aggression was provoked by our own. Our exclusive moral authority demoralized any prospect for peace and mutually beneficial trade.
