Trump's biggest problem is that he's out of touch with the voters. He loves to dangle shiny objects in front of people hoping it will distract them, like the COVID checks in 2020. Nobody cares about two new federal holidays. Sending out checks to members of the military for $1,776 isn't going to buy him any goodwill. What people want is a reasonable cost of living, ample job opportunities, and affordable health care costs. If he spent 90% of his time and energy delivering on these things he'd be the most popular president since JFK.

While past presidents have nominated to give either December 24 or December 26 as an additional holiday for federal workers, it is rare to announce both. During his first term in office, Trump granted federal workers Christmas Eve off three years in a row - a tradition Joe Biden carried on. In 2014, under the Obama administration, Christmas fell on a Thursday and the president opted instead to give workers December 26 off, leading into the weekend. Trump's announcement comes after a record-breaking 43-day government shutdown earlier this year, during which federal employees were either told not to come to work, or forced to show up each day without pay.

It is a smart move. No work was going to get done those two days anyhow. Though it will end up costing the US government more money as anyone that does have to work will get double time.

This is a big W for Trump, no idea why nobody else did this many years ago. When Trump does big W's, I will be there to celebrate them.
.

Yes.

What I feel is coming is going to be amazing. I hope the world is ready.

The British celebrate December 26, as Boxing Day.

not sure if it an actual Bank Holiday tho.

My wife and I are both retired, we don't much care about getting days off for holidays.

What gubmint employee HAS TO work those two days? CongressCritters took 3 weeks off allowing the government to shutdown! If they didn't have to work those days, no one has to work over those two days.

VA doctors and nurses.

ATC

Law Enforcement

Just to name a few.

Companies do this all the time. Floating holidays.

As guy posted above. Not many hourly work anyway on those weird days but critical MFG or MAINT maybe. Then they get paid 2X holiday pay.

So, is it a good thing or a bad thing?

If you think it is a good thing, which from your tone, I do not, will you rejoice and celebrate with the government workers who would probably have no business to conduct on those days anyway?

If it is a bad thing, I suggest you never vote for Trump ever again as you celebrate Festivus.

BTW, they are days off from work, not a holiday.

  • Yes, food prices are slowly falling or at least rising much more slowly, with overall grocery inflation cooling significantly from its peak, though some items like beef remain high while dairy, eggs, and some produce are seeing declines due to oversupply and easing pressures, with forecasts suggesting a continued slowdown into 2026.
    Key Trends & Reasons:
    • Slowing Overall Inflation: The annual rate of food price increases has dropped substantially from highs in 2022, with some reports showing month-over-month decreases and annual rates around 1.7-2.0% by late 2025, down from peaks.
    • Dairy & Produce Relief: Increased milk supply led to lower butter and cheese prices, while citrus and some fruits/veggies also saw price drops.

No they are not.

Not increasing up is a decrease, just ask Congress.

Inflation settling down near goal. Quite amazing with 10% tariff you Holler about. Like I said, China eats the cost, perhaps. WINNING!

Drug prices are being slashed. My dad will be able to get Eliquis at a more affordable price. Thank you President Trump.
