I have a four-foot LED over my tool bench and the light is great. The warm white LEDs cast the same light as an incandescent. I hate the "daylight" LEDs, way too harsh.

The secret to work/tool bench lighting is to not have the light shining directly into your eyes. This is my tool bench (after just finishing it). The LED light is behind the wide board that drops from the top shelf; keeps the light out of my eyes. Great lighting. The rest of the lighting is ceiling mounted warm white fluorescents.

I seriously doubt a single LED gives good light over anything ... we need an array of the several types of LEDs and the various colors ...

Bench lights are traditionally fluorescent ... because these have a broader color spectrum ... and still saves energy ... just we need to feel guilty breaking up the burnt out tubes and tossing them in the river, or where ever you folks throw your trash ...

I like the 4000K LED lights, less blue ... or I use the 10,000K high wattage if I really want to light things up ... dirt cheap on Amazon ...

It was first put in under Obama as a measure to increase halogen because that is what the democrats invested their money (stock) in. Once Biden got into office with Obama running things in the background; Obama had Biden outright ban the manufacture and sale of incandescent bulbs to increase the liberal stock profits.

I mistakenly left my brights on on the highway. A truck in front of me turned on a rear facing light that literally blinded me. I have also been so blinded on a city street that I had to stop until the asshole drove past me.

first you went with telling me how to light my workbench then you switched to dont give my opinion on public policy then you switched to I can buy them all day long which we all know isnt true and when called out you switch to what ever it is you just said,,

What is the difference between halogen and incandescent light bulbs?

• While standard incandescent bulbs use iodine or bromine and fluorescent light bulbs use mercury vapor, halogen bulbs use halogen gas

General reliance upon AI seems to be making us all stupider. Iodine and bromine are halogens. They may be deposited in solid form upon the inside surface of either type bulb or not. Clear glass incandescent bulbs remain quite common ("standard"). So the real distinction between incandescent and halogen bulbs is, well, halogens have at least a bit of halogen gas involved, but they're also just "a sub-category of incandescent light bulb family."
eta: "vapor" literally means "a gas" so that's another stupid distinction without a difference being forwarded.
