What is the difference between halogen and incandescent light bulbs?
  • While standard incandescent bulbs use iodine or bromine and fluorescent light bulbs use mercury vapor, halogen bulbs use halogen gas that reacts differently with the filament, giving it a more usage hours with a higher color temperature.

Though relatively similar, halogen and incandescent bulbs’ main difference is that while incandescent bulbs are filled with argon, halogen bulbs are filled with halogen gas.

  • Halogen bulb’s glass casing quickly weakens when it comes into contact with sweat and body oils—consequently restricting handling to when you have your hands suitably covered.
  • Halogen bulbs are usually considerably more expensive than incandescent bulbs.
  • Halogen bulbs at times explode propelling hot shards of glass outwards.

Obama is the one who removed our incandescent light bulbs and we need them brought back. They work better in lamps. The other bulbs make the lamps blink on and off constantly.

Incandescent light bulbs were very affordable. Democrats always try to make our lives horrible and unaffordable.

the retrofit subsidies got John & Jane homeowner's attention Cross....~S~

What is your ******* problem? Incandescent bulbs are the least efficient light source on the planet. LED's are the new world order.

**** that shit i havent changed a light bulb in years....the ones outside are on all night long.....

Yeah ... try using an LED light under your rig at night and see if your engine block doesn't crack when your radiator water freezes ... I keep a few 100W incandescents around for such emergencies ...

Incandescent lights are (were) cheap and 100 percent efficient in the winter. A 100 watt bulb gives off 1400 lumens of light as well as 340 BTU's of heat.

We're not going back

why not have both??

there is aa place for each that are not interchangable,,
right, why not have both, but the democrats put a law in place that has now done away with incandescent light bulbs they are not legally allowed to be sold.

You must not live in the United States then ... we have Walmarts here that sell incandescents ...

Dude ... it's your parents that make you use LEDs, not the government ... sheesh ...

its not the price thats the problem,,

Ihave yet to find an led that gives good light over a work bench,,
I have a four-foot LED over my tool bench and the light is great. The warm white LEDs cast the same light as an incandescent. I hate the "daylight" LEDs, way too harsh.
