Follow-up question, as I don't like having anyone who is anti-abortion on ignore.
Could you explain in a brief post why you are "totally opposed to abortion?"
I can provide my basis and reasons for my opposition first, if you like.
Thanks for asking.
First of all, I realize it's a very sensitive subject and that women (and girls) who've suffered horrendously at the hands of savage men are often times left with a very difficult decision as a result of assault or abuse. I'm not insensitive to their plight.
One of my sisters had been assaulted and she opted for an abortion way back in the 70s. I still loved her and communicated with her up until her cancerous death a year ago.
My opposition to abortion stems mainly from my religious beliefs but also from the mental shock of knowing what the procedure entails.
The idea of ripping arms and legs and a head off of a little human body seems barbaric on its very surface. I think of the person who commits such an act on a living creature -- one that can't defend itself. It seems monstrous to me and the person who does this sort of thing for a living must have a very dark soul or no soul at all.
I also agree with American law that says a person is "innocent until proven guilty." There's no more innocent life than the one trying to survive in the comfort and safety of its mother's womb. American law also opposes the taking of an innocent life. Men have been charged with double murder for killing a pregnant woman.
I agree with this statement: "My body, my choice." I actually used that phrase during Covid when everyone was pushing me towards taking an experimental vaccine that had never been tried on humans. I "chose" not to be a guinea pig and I'm glad I did. But an unborn baby is not part of a woman's "body." It's its own person. Nobody asks the baby what he or she "chooses." And since the unborn child is in the process of growing and living, we have to assume that it has "chosen" to live.
Beyond that, I could quote several Bible verses concerning life; protection of children; God's "knowing" us before we're born; etc.
