Trump Is All Hot Air As Gas Prices Continue To Fall

Why quote only the low price?

California is $5
Premium is $4 across most states
E85 is garbage and heavily sibsidized

And it's below $3 elsewhere. How is that the President's fault?

Drilling slowed down bigly under Trump in 2020

It has slowed down a bit.

What the drill baby drill morons can't figure out. Is if prices are down, it doesn't make good business sense to increase production, as it costs more to pump it, than you can sell it for.

But we're talking about people that support a guy that blew a $400 million inheritance, filed for bankruptcy 6 times, and lost money on a casino.

True believers and cultists don't operate on anything that relates to the word "sense". They have none.

so what is your back ground with this stuff that one should listen to you?..

The price of regular gas is below $3 per gallon in many southern states, with the national average just a little higher, at $3.27 as of Monday, according to AAA. If your vehicle is compatible with E85, it’s just $2.69. And the price of regular gas is expected to keep falling through Thanksgiving.

All the while, the United States continues to break records for oil production and the strategic oil reserve is being refilled. Presidents don’t have direct control over the price of gas, but policies can affect the long-term price of oil, and President Joe Biden has proven to be a master oil trader.

And yet Donald Trump has campaigned on the idea that we need to “drill, baby, drill” to boost production, that Biden has emptied the strategic reserve, and that the United States is not energy independent. None of that is true. So what is a guy who strong-armed oil companies to pump a billion dollars into his campaign to do?

Panic.

Trump can see that jig is up for his false claims on energy. Gas prices now are down over a dollar from their 2022 peak and are lower than they were a decade ago. Consumer confidence appears to be rising. And increasing consumer spending shows that Americans feel more confident about their finances.

Since 2007, the price of gas has dipped below $2 only three times, usually in the middle of economic disasters. Amid the Great Recession in 2008, decreased demand dropped prices to $1.75. And Trump’s bungled response to the COVID-19 pandemic created another low point, dropping prices to $1.93 as demand crashed and supplies overflowed (The third time gas fell below $2 was for one month in 2016—under then-President Barack Obama—due to an oil surplus.)

I wouldn't bring this up at the debate if I were you donald.
Paid $3.36 a gallon recently here in western New York. It was under $2 a gallon under Trump.

Not to mention the fact that home prices are still astronomical, the cost of rent, and the cost of a home loan is three times today what it was under Trump.

It’s over man …. The betting odds flipped and Trump is a pretty healthy favorite. Harris blew it by catering to the radical left wing well she herself said that she is woke so that’s probably just her issue anyway. And plus the fact that she doesn’t give enough interviews or press conferences. The debate tonight should be the nail in the coffin for Harris.

Typically because of known actual variables. In days past, not really because it was all known and built in.

For decades fuel prices were largely stable. We then allowed the hedge funds in and it's been a mess ever since.

Such as?

I find it fascinating that we have people who claim “both sides are bad”. Sure ok both Candidates have drawbacks …. yet democrats have radical ideas on race and gender. so for people who continue to claim that both sides are bad(usually those people criticize Trump more by the way) I wonder if if they’re voting for Harris or third-party

Biden emptied half of the Strategic Oil Reserves in a desperate attempt to get gas prices down before the midterms. That's not what the reserve is for.

Often those who say both sides are bad will say “how can anybody vote for Trump? He is a leader of a cult” …. they constantly talk about Trump Trump Trump.

Seems that they downplay the Democrats radical views on gender and race though.

and who could forget the people who say “Trump is a threat to democracy look at January 6” …. those same people say nothing about the BLM riots that were much worse and saw more attacks on government institutions.

What really gets me is when people say that “Trump supporters are cult members.” Often the people saying that believe in 100 genders, that white people are privileged, that men can get pregnant…. You can’t make this stuff up.

Trump had nothing to do with gas prices when he was in office, but Biden does?
Both had the same tools to deal with it. Trump did not release strategic reserves during his administration. Biden did release strategic reserves. Biden had reasons to release strategic reserves. Trump did not have reasons to release strategic reserves. Gas prices were lower during the Trump administration due to less demand due to covid lock downs. Had Trump faced high gas prices he would have done the same as Biden. Neither deserves credit nor Blame. Just another issue used to take the voters eyes off of what really matters. Again Neither deserves credit nor blame.

Gas prices were much lower before the coronavirus. Same thing with the price of homes and the price of a home loan. This point is not debatable. We can debate other things, but not this one.

What might be debatable but probably really isn’t is the fact that under Biden two new war started in Ukraine and Palestine, which messed up the global economy. Under Trump we had a more peaceful world, and the supply routes were not as affected.

presidents dont have a lot to do with gas prices...i thought a good little party guy like you would know that...
True. Gas prices usually fall when the vacation travel season is over. What is important is average price over time. We need more refining capacity in the north.

Cause and effect fallacy . Home prices skyrocketed due to crazy large private equity investments in real-estate. Gas prices sky rocketed because the consumer went ape shit crazy on travel and the consumption of goods after being pent up for a year. Market forces. Crusaderfrank was correct in his forum "Quit spending money fools.". Market forces caused these situations not Trump nor Biden. We as a nation have spent like drunken sailors since covid. I know everyone wants the gubment to solve their issues for them but we as a consumer have our own hand in outcomes that the gubment can't solve. Wanna make a real difference through government? Then elect people that will actually use anti monopoly laws to restore the free market system. Neither party has been willing to do it.
