A generation ago conventional wisdom held that as China liberalized, its economy would come to resemble America’s. Instead, capitalism in America is starting to look like China.

Recent examples include President Trump’s demand that Intel’s chief executive resign; the 15% of certain chip sales to China that Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices will share with Washington; the ā€œgolden shareā€ Washington will get in U.S. Steel as a condition of Nippon Steel’s takeover; and the $1.5 trillion of promised investment from trading partners Trump plans to personally direct.

There is a reason I call MAGA, Red MAGA. Trump is emulating China and their state capitalism. This a wake up call where trump is taking us.

Trump can't even get rid of people within his own executive Branch, like the Deparment of Education.

You expect us to believe he can make this CEO resign?

Trump has the right to voice his opinion on a clearly inept CEO.

Chips and steel are a national security product... you want America to be secure don't you?....

Dude, that ain't nothing. Taking over DC. Threatening to "nationalize" Harvard's patents. Removing books from the Naval Academies library.

DC is out of control... if Trump did nothing about it like the autopen he would be not following his oath of office... like the autopen....

National security. I wouldn't have even have given them this approval pre-emptively. At the very least, I would have used it as a negotiating chip in any deal with China and placed annual restrictions. They are more valuable than Rare Earth which the West should be mining aggressively and trying to drive costs down.

Trump said they are Americas best chips but it is still going to help China greatly and they will be using it to increase A.I in their military applications which will lead to millions dead at some point.

I do find it amusing just how MAGAs just flip a switch and change their position in an instant.

Trump takes actions that smacks of state-run businesses that emulate the Chinese and they are all for it.

So much for all the Joe Biden Chi-com bullshit.

The true Chi-Com is sitting in the White House right now.

Remember when China held back medical supplies we don't make here during covid?... think about that with computer chips and AI or steel.... or perscription drugs...

It’s a fascist model rather than communist – but the result is the same.

If that were true, Bernie Sanders, AOC, and Nancy Pelosi would be MAGA.

Definitely on point. The Cult is so mesmerized by Trump that they embrace Russia, embrace central planning, embrace big government, embrace deficits, embrace loss of liberty, and model after the Chinese. Never seen a group of people so enamored with a fat orange guy that they are willing to break every foundational belief they have.

I meant to say Trump said they aren't the best chips. Still not worth helping CHina out though as they are near peer competitor to the U.S. Does Trump believe China would ever trade advanced technology to the U.S? Time to wisen up ffs.

Until recently, the idea of the US nationalizing any business was a non starter. Nationalizing industry has always been looked on with disdain, and only the most wild eyed extreme fringe socialists would even consider something so foreign to our tried and true free market system. All that was true until Trump’s meeting with Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan at the White House earlier this week where they discussed the real possibility of the US buying a stake in Intel. Not a grant or a temporary loan, or a bailout as we have done in the past, but an actual ongoing ownership position where the US would have control of the company’s day to day operations, personnel, and every other aspect that ownership allows. I’m curious to see if today’s maga jumps on board and supports trump’s efforts, or if they will maintain their long term stance in support of the free market. This doesn’t seem to be just a throw away discussion. Trump said it was a good meeting, and they would have further talks on the subject.
